Hey, Ladies and Gents. About a month ago, I finally got fed up with my skin. At the age of 30, my skin started really acting 13 years old again. So, I called and ordered Proactiv. The active ingredient in it is benzoyl peroxide. I thought, Great, this is the stuff that bubbles out the nasty stuff when I cut myself. It's a 3 step regimin. You wash your face with the cleanser which has a *really* fine grit to it; this exfoliates you and cleans out yer pores. The toner comes next; this stuff further cleans out your pores, and, well, tones your skin. Once that dries, you put on a little bit of the lotion which hydrates you and helps clear up blemishes. I've seen the infomercials and I've known a few people who've used it. One in particular is my cousin, Joe, who when he was 15 had some pretty heinous acne. Today, I liken the skin on his face to a baby's bottom- without diaper rash, that is. In short, he looks fabu.
Here's the prob. My whole body's pretty sensitive. I can't take prescription narcotic painkillers, I feel a bit loopy after two Motrin, you get the picture. The Proactive cleared me up after a three days, but my skin DOES NOT LIKE benzoyl peroxide. I called Proactiv, described my reaction, and said thanks, but no thanks. They said, wait- we don't advertise that we make this, and a small percentage of people like you can't tolerate the regular stuff, but we make a *gentle formula* which has the active ingredient of salycilic acid. I said, why, that stuff's in a 2% solution in the Clinique I use on spot treatments! My skin's used to that stuff. I thought perhaps this gentle formula might work, as it's in a 3-4% solution. So, they refunded me for the regular stuff and told me I didn't have to send it back, and charged and sent me the standard 3 bottles (which costed a bit less than the regular stuff) of the gentle formula.
I've been using it for a few weeks now. I do not use the gentle formula lotion anymore. I've never used lotion on my skin, and that stuff actually broke me out. The cleanser and toner seem to be working a few wonders though and my skin is starting to respond well.
The POINT of this post: I have Proactiv Cleanser, Toner, and Lotion (the regular strength, benzoyl peroxide stuff) which I only used about 6 times. The bottles have barely been used. I don't want to throw it out- not if there's a chance that one of you, or someone one of you knows, might benefit from this.
So, who wants my Proactiv? If you don't feel comfortable responding here, email me or call.
