Why do you find it so confusing that House/Wilson fans, and Wilson fans in particular, are becoming disheartened? They're making my favorite character pathetic...and I'm sure in the next episode all will be fine and forgotten and House and Wilson will just keep...not talking or whatever the fuck it is the writers want us to think they're doing. I guess, when it comes to Wilson and how House treats him, that I'm utterly confused as to why Wilson is still his friend. I shit better writing than that. I would honestly have preferred Wilson wasn't in this episode at all--and I liked this episode, but I'm tired of my favorite character being used as a convenient plot device. RSL, at least, deserves better story lines than what he's been getting. Sorry for ranting all over your post...I'm just all "wtf?"
I don't know, I think that Wilson is kind of a pathetic character. I mean it, he is. I don't know why people ever thought he was un-pathetic. House has always shat on him, it's just the way they work. It's not that it isn't cute that he follows House around like a puppy most of the time and is totally devoted to him in a strange way, it's just... well, pathetic. And that's the way the Holmes/Watson relationship is, too, IMHO.
I guess I assumed that House/Wilson people were thinking of Wilson the same way I was, as a kind of cute but pathetic character, and that Hilson was a 'ship of "House finally accepts that Wilson is his most devoted friend!! Even though he isn't as brilliant as House. And he loves him anyway, for his dogged devotion!" That's why it's never appealed to me.
I will read any ship including well-done Hilson even though that doesn't usually do it for me. I mostly read Hameron because, well, I weirdly identify with Cameron. But I like Huddy and Chase/Cameron and pretty much anything else you put in front of me.
I was just testing you to see what your name-smushes were. Yarr! (PS, join capslockpirates - it's for actual piracy. I'm a maintainer so I can okay you if you just want to join to check it out =)

I have to say I agree with msbunburyist about Wilson being a kind of pathetic character (there was much yelling of "DTMFA!" in the Tritter arc) but he's always been endearing. He's definitely one of my favorites and I love to see his interactions with House even thought it hurts sometimes

Hee. Fandom is nothing if not overreactionary...(Is that a word?) And heck, I try hard not to be of the shipper mindset, 'cause most of the time it's a stupid way to be. I am totally defensive of Wilson, however. That won't change, I think :) I guess it's just weird people think Wilson has always been pathetic...while I can undertand the viewpoint, I've never seen him that way.

yeah, rethinking a bit, pathetic is way too harsh of a word for Wilson overall (though I used it for this ep)...perhaps "devoted to a fault" better describes this, as we haven't seen him let other characters tramp on him the way that House does.
We know Wilson is House's only friend, but I think House might be Wilson's only real friend too. I've definitely been a Wilson in this type of friendship, so I can't really rag on him for it =D

"Devoted to a fault" I could totally get behind. And yeah, I think House might be Wilson's only real friend too, though I'm curious about why....Wilson fixes people and they leave him? House's meddling? Wilson really is a big, gigantic bastard? *growls*
I've been a Wilson in a relationship before and still am, so maybe that's why I like the guy so much.

It would be real interesting to see Wilson's wives, yeah. "Wilson fixes people and they leave him" might be interesting if it's true, or possibly "Wilson tries to fix people who don't want to be fixed as badly as they think they do"
I guess, when it comes to Wilson and how House treats him, that I'm utterly confused as to why Wilson is still his friend.
