Dearest of Yuletide Authors

Dearest of Yuletide Authors,

Welcome to my journal. Glad you've come. Have a chair, sit down, enjoy the scenery. I've tried not to be too difficult in my requests, but it's hard to tell sometimes.

I'm very easy to write for, I promise. I like canon and backstory/future fic (especially the weird obscure bits, as you can tell by my requests), snark and witty banter, capers and proper adventures and characterization pieces. I'd rather not have anything above PG-13 (horror or smut)- though I don't mind shipping (het/femslash/slash are all fine, incestuous pairings not so much). I'm not really in this for the smut and I'd prefer that all of the characters stayed alive and I have mentioned some ships in the prompts/descriptions.

As you may guess by my choice of fandoms and characters, I am fond of cheesy plots, snark and witty banter, crossovers and amazing adventures. Feel free to take advantage of this.

While my journal will give you a sense of some of my current fandoms, some of my current loves that I haven't spoken of much are Fangirl & Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, Phineas & Ferb, Liv & Maddie, Person of Interest, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Also, I've been bouncing around both the DC and Marvel comic universes for decades, and while Batgirl, Teen Titans (especially the Marv Wolfman years), New Mutants (the Chris Claremont years) are among my favorites, you can assume that I'm familiar with most of the characters from both universes. You can check my Goodreads for what I've been reading recently.

ETA: I've been watching more Disney sitcoms of late, so feel free to slip into DCLAU territory (in addition to Liv & Maddie, I just marathoned Girl Meets World, and I also caught up on KC Undercover - on the Nick side, I like Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn and Bella and the Bulldogs. Past favs include Wizards of Waverly Place and Big Time Rush.

Beta-readers are your friends - please do check for grammar, spelling and historical accuracy (as far as you can). That being said, Best Friends Whenever favors the rule of funny over historical or scientific accuracy, so feel free to do the same.

We Bare Bears (TV)
Chloe (We Bare Bears), Grizz (We Bare Bears), Ice Bear (We Bare Bears), Panda (We Bare Bears)

I love all the bears equally so I'd really like ensemble slice-of-life stories. Alternately feel free to pick a random AU or have them meet some famous bears of history/literature/etc.

This is a relatively new Cartoon Network show. There are fewer than 20 15 minute episodes so far and you should be able to find them on streaming services, including Cartoon Network's website.

I love the bears best when they're playing off each other (and Chloe the awesome). I don't know what else to say but moar #bearstack please.

Read All About It
Alex (Read All About It), Chris Anderson (Read All About It), Lynne Davis, Samantha Nikos

Write this and I'll be so thrilled I won't care what the story is about. Honest. *loves on you* I've been a fandom of one for far too long.

If you insist on more guidance, I love when the kids go against Duneedon and I'm a sucker for book characters coming to life and time travel stories (but not all three at once). I'm a huge fan of the first season, and felt like the shorter arcs of the second season weren't as strong.

Write a crossover with Sarah Jane Adventures, Black Hole High, Best Friends Whenever, or, if you really want to go crazy, perhaps a Space Teens crossover featuring Robin Sparkles and Jessica Glitter, but please remember that OPTIONAL crossovers are also OPTIONAL.

This is an 80s Canadian tv show with a strongly SF plot and a rather spooky villain. Three kids start a newspaper and learn about grammar and such things along the way. Most of the episodes are available on YouTube.

Insurance Commerical Spokespeople
Flo the Progressive Insurance girl, Geico - Gecko, Mayhem (Allstate), Progressive Unicorn

Multiple insurance companies teaming up to save the day/save the world/etc. is my jam. Alternately, Damage Control-esque crossover fic about them cleaning up after the heroes would also be welcome. Crackfic encouraged.

Both Progressive and Geico had presences at NYCC this year and I wouldn't be surprised if Allstate and State Farm show up next year. I'm not sure what the connection is to comics/entertainment, but if you want to explain why they are hanging around, that would be good too. Feel free to include any other insurance spokespeople you want (including the Aflac duck) and the crackier the better.

Best Friends Whenever (TV)
Cyd Ripley, Shelby Marcus

Cracky time travel hijinks. Crossovers welcome (especially with other time travel fandoms). I ship it but you don't have to. If you do ship it, I'd much prefer cute to smut.

Relatively new Disney sitcom (as of writing this 10 or 11 half hour episodes have aired). Cyd and Shelby are best friends and Cyd is living with Shelby while her parents are in Peru. They're messing around in a friend's lab when there is a freak accident that gives them the power to time travel when they touch each other (it's as if they wanted us to ship it).

There's an over-arching plot about them being strapped to a table in a lab some time in the future, but mostly the episodes are concerned with over-the-top time travel hijinks and mad science. I doubt you could top the actual episodes for crackfic, but feel free to try. Logic and this show do not go hand and hand.

Ned & Stacey (TV)
Ned Dorsey, Stacey Colbert Dorsey

I'd really like future fic here too. What happened after that last episode? Do Ned & Stacey get back together? Or alternately, give me some farcical episode from their marriage. Or give me something Jewish themed, as Stacey is canonically Jewish.

I adored the first season and had issues with the second, mostly centered around how what started as give and take turned into Ned being always right and everyone bashing on Stacey. Please try to keep the balance of the first season.

I love win/win or lose/lose stories. I'm not interested in unequal power dynamics of the sort that were the norm in the second season. Beyond that, the rest is up to you. Anything from OTT sitcom antics to a serious look at what happened after the last episode, would be fine with me.

Patsy Walker Comics
Patsy Walker, Nancy Brown, Hedy Wolfe

Patsy Walker, teenager and fashion plate. I'd be up for some '40s to '60s high school hijinks, or you could do something with the ongoing plot towards the end of the run where they graduate and get jobs, or you could bounce off everything that happened to her in the Marvel universe and run with that.

I have this long term adoration for Patsy Walker, who I first encountered in J.M. DeMatteis' Defenders run, before going back to collect many of the romance comics she featured in. I was a big fan of the Patsy/Daimon relationship before Marvel ran it into the ground and I'm very much looking forward to her entry into the MCU in Jessica Jones (even if they changed the color of her hair). Feel free to veer into high school AU territory (Marvel comics, MCU, Disney sitcom) or just play it straight.

ETA: I have seen Jessica Jones and feel free to pull elements of Trish's backstory from that, but I'd like to see some continuity/familiarity with her comics past. My headcanon is that It's Patsy was a Disney Tween sitcom, making the AU suggestion above a little less AU.
