It has been way too long. At least I remembered to post a chapter of Closer to Fine for the handful of people who didn't read it elsewhere.
Anyway, I'm still alive. Though it would serve you right if I became a vampire and you didn't notice. ;)
I suspect this will be a long post so why don't I
cut it here.
Work
They claim we'll have another year in the temporary space if things go according to plan. Therefore, I am suspicious. We are all getting on each other's nerves and thankfully everyone in the children's department is going to be frantically using up vacation time. Also, once storyhours start, the other two staff members will be out of the building for good portions of three mornings a week.
TV
I am still watching tv. :) Trying very hard to like Glee (I want to like it, but it's fighting me - the music is brilliant, but the characters still feel like caricatures.) Loving Vampire Diaries for the cheesy brilliance. Watched about 6 seasons of NCIS in three weeks before the new season started and am helplessly in love, and though the spinoff doesn't scratch quite the same itch, it's quirky enough to keep me watching.
For the record, my current tv (as of this coming week) is:
Monday
How I Met Your Mother
House
The Big Bang Theory
Tuesday
NCIS
NCIS:LA
Wednesday
Glee
Top Chef
Thursday
SJA
Survivor
Vampire Diaries
Total Drama Action
Stoked
Project Runway
Friday
SJA
Wizards of Waverly Place
(I watched part of the premiere of Stargate:Universe, but didn't see the end, and I'm thinking of adding it here.)
Numb3rs
paranoidangel42 is suggesting that I watch Armstrong and Miller but it doesn't go on this list until I've seen an episode and know if I want to carry on with it.
Saturday
Merlin
Sunday
The Amazing Race
Lewis
These are roughly in watching order. Somehow I didn't realise I was watching so much. It didn't seem like as much as last year.
This order is complicated by the spontaneous generation of a vaguely weekly meetup to watch other stuff at my place. We started with the 2nd series of SJA, moved on to Torchwood: Children of Earth, and this week we started on the First Doctor stories in order (and yes, it sounds like we're doing the whole thing). Both my friends got hooked with Torchwood and found Doctor Who through that and one had never seen any classic Who before. Starting next week, we'll be continuing on with the First Doctor watch, watching the first two episodes of SJA (I will have already seen them for I have no willpower), watching an episode of Smallville that one of them missed, and who knows what else. This week one had to leave for a little while, and rather than continue on without her, we watched the first DVD of the complete Dungeons and Dragons cartoon and then I showed her the first episode of Wizards and Warriors.
Meanwhile, I have started watching/rewatching the Tomorrow People (I have all the DVDs, but I haven't watched them all) and Sapphire and Steel. I watched a little of The Man from Uncle and haven't decided if I'll continue on with that. And I started a rewatch of VR.5. As can be evidenced by the last three, I've been on a bit of a David McCallum kick.
Audio/Big Finish
Listened to Paper Cuts and Blue Forgotten Planet and was not terribly thrilled with either of them. Too many loose ends and a clear sense of we're going to leave gaps here and here and here, just in case we want to go back to play with them. (Was that unspoily enough?)
Currently finishing up the Sapphire and Steel audios. The Mystery of the Missing Hour was the most brilliant thing ever, though having Colin Baker narrating was strange. :)
I bought three BF CDs at DragonCon, because I've found that format is easier to listen to in the car. Circular Time, Phantasmagorica, and Doctor Who and the Pirates. I'm still very amused by how in the "Autumn" segment of Circular Time, the Doctor's descriptions of cricket in Autumn are so very like descriptions of baseball in the fall.
Reading
Will be in a separate post. I haven't updated my books to the moon list since the beginning of the summer and I've read a lot since then.
Writing
My Harry and Sarah ficathon story will be posted later today. It has also given me a nano-bunny. D:
Yuletide has a brainstorming post up. I posted about 50 possible fandoms, and now I have to narrow this down to 6. I'd be tempted to put this up for a vote, but the whole point here is rare fandoms. Maybe I'll put it to a vote and eliminate the most popular ones. ;)
Knitting
I'm making good progress on my shawl and neglecting everything else. :( Rhinebeck Sheep and Wool festival next weekend and I'm dithering about staying up there overnight. I have to be back to work the next afternoon, but I'm not sure I want to make the drive in the dark.
Bunnies
Peppermint and Wintergreen are thriving, though they're feeling a little skittish at the moment. I am determined to finish bunnyproofing the living room this week, because I don't spend enough time in the dining area I have fenced off for them as it lacks comfortable chairs.
Albuquerque
Albuquerque was lovely except for the altitude sickness and some sort of pollen in the air that I was allergic to. I love my parents' new home and will post pictures soon.
Photos
Have not been extracted from my camera yet. FAILS. :(
Icons, Graphics and Webstuff
I've been playing in
doctorwho20in20 even though I don't think my style is well matched to the competition.
I made a banner for
the Sarah Jane Wardrobe Appreciation Society and will be working at adding links to the Sarah Jane Timeline so that it becomes an integrated part of the site.
soniclipstick has just gone to a 6 day a week posting schedule from a one day a week schedule in preparation for the new series. Next step is to write an advertisement to remind people it exists and invite them to be added to the watch list.
