Dinner for Four.
The clock on the kitchen’s wall moves. Molly Weasley can hear the click from the garden, and for an entirely second, her heart stops. But her body is stronger, and soon her legs walk into the kitchen. It’s the twins, she knows before facing the clock. She recognizes every hand, every sound. They are not in mortal danger (Thanks, Merlin!) neither dead, but… at home. Molly blinks, she blinks hard and her eyes try to find her sons standing right there, in front of there, in the kitchen. That’s when she hears them, their voices mumbled, nervous and gleeful. She quickly storms out, wand in hand and strutting so fiercely that the clock’s hands shake.
They are in the living room, standing outside the fireplace and holding their brooms. They freeze when they notice their mother, they step back when they notice the look on her eyes.
“I told you we should’ve ridden all the way from Hogwarts,” Fred whispers his brother, but the house is so oddly quiet that his mother hears him perfectly.
There are many questions going through Molly’s mind, and she is not entirely sure she wants to know the answers.
“Hello, mother,” George finally says, using the smile that -he knows- makes his classmates sigh and giggle. It doesn’t have the same effect on his mother.
“We left Hogwarts,” Fred announces, gesturing the air.
“I can see that,” Molly answers, her voice barely a whisper.
“What, um, Fred means is that we have decided to dropped out of school and never go back again,” George supplies, stepping back and way too close to the fireplace.
“And we are going to start a joke shop,” his brother adds.
Both of them have a handful of Floo powder clenched in their left fists. Molly can see them unconsciously mouthing the place they plan to escape to, but she’s much faster than they give her credit for. Before they can even say a word, pronounce as much as a single phoneme, they are being dragged away from the fireplace.
“You two,” Molly starts but the fact that she is holding them by their arms, that they are safe, at home, with her, makes the anger fade away, “are going to clean this house, without wands, and leave it spotless. SPOTLESS!”
She sighs and lets them go, then. They stand still in their places, confusion written all over their faces.
“Understood?” she questions, her hands resting on her hips while her eyes go from one twin to the other.
They both nod, and when she shows them her palms, both of them hand her their wands without saying a word.
“Now, I have to chop some more vegetables. I wasn’t expecting you two for dinner.”
She turns around and walks into the kitchen, because then they would see her smiling. Explanations, concerns, questions and answers can wait. Now she has to cook dinner for four.
