“Absolutely not,” Narcissa said glaring at her husband as he sat behind his desk. “I will not send my child to Durmstrang! It is too far away for our little boy!” Well it was more yelling that she was doing but that was completely beside the point. The point was that she would not send her baby boy across the continent to a different school. “I know Dumbledore is there, I know there is Mudblood's there but it is Hogwarts and that is where Draco shall attend,” she hissed at him, hands on her hips. Yes she was furious at Lucius, one of the few times that she had ever been.
“Cissa Love,” Lucius started to say before stopping at the absolutely fiery glare that his wife gave him. Lucius wouldn't admit it to anyone, but he did know better than to get on the bad side of his wife. While it might not be obvious at first she had inherited the famous Black temper and he really did hate being on the receiving end of it. The first time he had done so he had ended up on the couch for nearly a month and it was not an experience he wanted to repeat. His back had killed him for ages afterwards and the looks his wife gave him... Well he quickly learned his lesson about staying on her good side. “Alright, we can send him to Hogwarts,” he finally conceded even if he wasn't happy with it. He had wanted the boy to attend Durmstrang where they didn't let the filth and taught them the Dark Arts. “Just promise you will allow me to teach him the Dark Arts and the Old Ways when he is older.”
“Of course, you know I would never stop you. I just didn't like the thought of him being so far away from us, love,” she said leaning in to kiss her cheek. “It pained me to think of his all alone, so far away from us. He would have been so lonely and miserable and I just couldn't have allowed that. Plus Severus is at Hogwarts and you know that Draco does adore him,” Narcissa said moving around the desk and sliding into her husband's lap.
It had been back at Hogwarts not long before they had started to date that Cissa had realised how to get Lucius to give in to what she wanted. Oh, it didn't happen all the time and Cissa did love that. She liked a man with balls and the guts to stand up for what he believed in but at the same time also knew went to back down from an argument that he was sure to lose. Also knowing his weak points had also helped a lot over the years for Cissa to gain what she wanted from him.
“That is true and I do trust him,” Lucius said with a nod, wrapping his arms around his wife's waist, pulling her close to him. “I just don't trust Dumbledore but yes, I admit you do have some good points. Our son's happiness is always important as well as his safety. Plus he is probably too young to start learning the actual spells,” he mused before kissing the top of her head.
“Thank you,” she told him smiling up at him. “That means a lot to me. You know I wouldn't have stopped you unless it was important to me. I do trust your judgement in these situations and I do know you only want what is best for Draco.” That was very true, Cissa did know he wanted that and so did she.
“I'm sure some of the other parents such as the Parkinson's and the Nott's shall be sending their children to Hogwarts which will be good. They are such respectable families too. I know Pansy does seem to really like Draco even if I have to sometimes wonder about her. None the less I'm positive that she does mean well.
“A good point love,” Lucius nodded in agreement. “It is always important for him to meet children of the other families as well. I know they have met already but school is a completely different environment to our homes. It will change a lot of things and if Draco already knows them that is helpful. I'm positive he would gain a lot of power within the house too. Become one of the leaders if not the leader of his year. Yes, you were right it is an excellent idea to send Draco to Hogwarts despite its let downs.”
Narcissa smirked. Mission accomplished. Lucius always did love power and the connections that came with it. He loved showing the other families that he was better than him and if going to Hogwarts with the children of those families helped Draco gain that power she had known Lucius would be all for it. Yes, she was more than happy with the outcome of this discussion.
“I knew you would understand, Luc,” she said giving him another peck on the cheek. “We should probably inform Draco should we not?” she asked him sliding off and taking his hand in his.
“Yes, let's do that now. Better than putting it off and we'll need to respond to his Hogwarts letter as well now that I think of it. Oh and let Igor know that we won't be sending Draco there. He'll be upset but it will have to do,” Lucius said as he rose.
Making their way upstairs to Draco's play room they pushed the door open and saw their son playing with a toy Quidditch set that he had received for his birthday a couple of days before. “Draco, sweetie,” Narcissa said sitting down on the floor across from him. “Your father and I would like to talk to you.”
“Of course, mother,” he said putting down the toys.
“We have decided to send you to Hogwarts, son,” Lucius said joining his family on the floor. “While we did consider Durmstrang we have decided that Hogwarts is better as not only is it closer but a lot of the other Pureblood children that you already know shall be attending it. It will give you opportunities to gain power of them and meet the older ones. To show that you are truly a Malfoy,” Lucius said giving his son a smirk.
Draco nodded silently. He hadn't wanted to attend Hogwarts with all of the Mudblood's but he knew better than to argue with his parents over it. Narcissa and Lucius wouldn't hesitate in punishing him for it and he really didn't want to be punished. Plus he was going to Diagon Alley that afternoon and he didn't want to be in pain for that. “Of course,” he said with a nod. “Pansy did mention she would be attending as did Theodore and the eldest Greengrass,” he said naming a couple of the Pureblood's that he regularly spent time with. “I promise to do the two of you proud,” he told them.
“Thank you, sweetie,” Cissa told him moving to give him a hug. “You are such a grown up little man,” she told him. “I'm so incredibly proud of you. I love you and don't you ever forget that,” she told him firmly.
“Of course not mother,” Draco said returning the hug. “I love you too. Both of you,” he added turning and giving his father a smile.
“Come we should celebrate your acceptance,” Lucius said standing. “Perhaps a lovely lunch out?” he suggested. “And the latest broomstick of course,” he said giving his son a smirk knowing he would jump on that offer.
“Oh yes please, father. Thank you,” Draco said with a beaming smile. “I would love that.”
“Good boy,” Lucius said moving to embrace him. “Go grab your cloak and we'll meet you in the entrance hall.”
Watching Draco run off brought a smile to Cissa's lips. “He really is an amazing boy, our son,” she told her husband slipping her hand into his again and squeezing it gently. “We've raised him well. He's going to go along way in life. That I am positive of.”
“As am I, love,” Lucius said leading them to their room to grab their cloaks before heading down to meet their son.
The lunch went quickly enough at their favourite upper class restaurant, off Diagon Alley and Lucius bought his son the latest broom as promised. Draco was still a bit put out about attending Hogwarts with the Mudblood's but he didn't breathe a word to his parents about it. As they left him with his friends though, Lucius pulled Draco aside and informed him that Potter would be attending Hogwarts that year and he should do his best to befriend the boy, to try and swing them to their side. Draco had to admit he liked that plan and promised his father he would do just that. Swearing that he wouldn't fail his father in that task, he bade his parents farewell and promised to return home in time for dinner.
With that Draco greeted Pansy, Daphne and his other friends before heading off to wonder around the Alley for the afternoon - after showing off his broom of course and Lucius and Narcissa headed home for a quiet afternoon alone.
All in all it had been a good day for Narcissa who was more than pleased with how it had gone. Lucius too though he still wished he had the guts to stand up and fight his wife more, even if he knew the consequences for loosing weren't worth it in the slightest.

It was just after the Easter holidays and life was hell for the Malfoy's to put it simply. Actually it was worse but that was the closet it could come to describing it. It had gone from bad to worse to well even worse than worse in such a short amount of that none of them knew what to do. They had prayed and prayed that it would improve but no matter what they did the Dark Lord seemed intent on embarrassing them in front of the other Death Eaters. It had gotten so bad that they were wondering if it was worth it.
Especially after their latest punishment for letting the trio escape when it wasn't even their fault! Well Lucius and Narcissa liked to think that. The two of them had been spending more and more time together lately, away from everyone else. It was the only thing that was keeping them sane now that Draco had gone back to Hogwarts.
Lucius pulled his wife into a deserted corridor that no one ever came by the look of it, pushing her up against the wall kissing her hard as he did so. Sliding his hands up over her body he deepened the kiss, moaning slightly as he did so. He needed his wife so badly right now. He could feel her pressing into him, deepening the kiss. Her hands were up under his shirt, cold on his skin which was flushed with desire.
“Merlin Cissa,” he said whispered against her lips as he pulled back for air. “I need you so much,” he whispered.
Cissa instead of replying pushed herself up the wall and wrapped her legs around him, pressing herself against him as much as possible. She was about to speak when they heard a noise coming from one of the empty rooms.
Letting go of each other, they stilled as they recognised the voices coming from the room. Two they hadn't expected to hear anywhere near here. Actually they hadn't thought anyone was around when they had come - the main section was too busy at that moment which was why they had headed here. Plus they had been nearby as it was.
“My Lord,” Bellatrix breathed out with absolute devotion in her voice from the room just a couple up from Lucius and Narcissa.
Raising an eyebrow at his wife Narcissa just shrugged and held a finger to her lips indicating that they should be quiet. Lucius nodded, it did make sense not to speak given who was in that room.
“Bellatrix,” their Lord said. “You have always been one of my most loyal servants and the only one I would trust with this task. No one must know of it at that moment. In time they shall learn but not now. Now it is just you and me who shall know.”
“Anything you command,” Bellatrix said in a tone that neither Malfoy was used to. Just to be safe though, Lucius pulled Cissa into a darkened corner, behind one of the poles just in case the two occupants decided to leave the room.
“We are an empire, we rule the Wizarding World but to secure our place I shall need an heir. I want you to carry it. This is just another mission for you, just another task. You mean nothing to me, you are just a loyal servant. Do you understand?”
“I do, My Lord,” Bellatrix replied, though it was obvious by her tone that she was ecstatic none the less.
Narcissa turned to Lucius complete and utter horror on her face. Something that she found echoed upon his. Yes they were Death Eaters - or at least Lucius was but they weren't all that loyal and no matter want they didn't want their niece or nephew to be the Dark Lord's heir. That just disturbed them and sent shivers up their spine.
Not wanting to stick around any longer, Narcissa grabbed her husband's hand and pulled him away from that corridor. It was definitely not the place she wanted to be - nor him by the looks of it. Plus they would be punished even more severely if it was discovered they had been eavesdropping on such a private conversation.
Reaching their bedroom, they closed the door and locked it before turning to each other a look of absolute horror etched upon their faces. Narcissa upon her mouth to speak but she found that she couldn't she just felt sick.
Then she realised what the two of them would be doing in there and rushed to the bathroom just in time to throw up. She did not want to think about her sister and the Dark Lord having sex - how else would Bellatrix carry his heir otherwise? Feeling her husband at her back, holding her hair back and rubbing circles on her back she completely emptied her stomach.
Still not speaking she leant back into her husband's chest and sobbed as he held her there, still rubbing soothing circles on her back, comforting her. She didn't want to think about it, she needed to banish the image from her mind. Still crying she kissed her husband before pulling back pleading in her eyes. With a nod, he carried her to their bed and placed her gently down on it before making love to her.
Afterwards, the two of them lay there, still not speaking just curled up against each other, the conversation they over heard far from the front of their minds.
