Andromeda Black was not very much like her sisters, Narcissa and Bellatrix. She never really was, either. She loved them dearly but they were so different from her. They cared about blood status and money; she cared about love and companionship. They cared about looks; she cared about personality. They only associated with witches and wizards they believed could help them move up in society; she chose her friends based on how they treated her and the other people around them.
Even with these major differences, the three sisters remained close all through their years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But then Narcissa married Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix married Rodolphus Lestrange, and Andromeda married a muggle-born. Ted Tonks was a wonderful man and Andromeda loved him with all her heart. But when she married him she lost her sisters. They refused to talk to her, they stopped answering her owls, and eventually they even stopped talking about her. As far as they were concerned Andromeda was no longer one of the Black sisters.
Andromeda had a hard time dealing with the loss of her family. Until she had a daughter. Nymphadora filled the hole in her heart with love and she was able to get over the abandonment she felt by the rest of her family.

Animagus training was a new part of Auror training and the newest recruits were the first group to take the lessons. Harry Potter was still having trouble figuring out how he was given the job of teaching the trainees the tough skill of transforming at will into an animal. He was one of the very few Aurors to have already mastered the ability, so he supposed that was one of the reasons for his appointment to Professor.
“Alright trainees, my job is to teach you all to become Animagi, a skill which can be very hard to learn.” Harry told the assembled Aurors-in-training. “We’ll spend a good bit of time going over the magical theory behind the transformation. And then, eventually, we’ll all give it a go.”
A hand shot up into the air from near the middle of the room. “Yes, Miss...?”
“Boosey, sir.” A tough-looking woman stood up. “May we have a demonstration?”
Harry chuckled slightly as the group tittered excitedly. “I suppose. But just this once.” He smiled. “Everyone ready?”
A chorus of “yes”s answered him. Harry closed his eyes and an instant later opened them as an eagle. He flew around the room twice and then landed back at the front of the assembled trainees. He transformed back into his human self to a round of applause.
Harry waited for the noise to stop and then clapped his hands together once. “Alright, let’s get started.”

Harry wasn’t sure if he wanted to go back to Number 12 Grimmauld Place. The last time he’d been at that house he, Ron and Hermione had been planning their infiltration of the Ministry of Magic during the War. When he hadn’t been busy strategizing all Harry had been able to think about was his dead Godfather. Sirius Black had been the closest thing to a father Harry had ever had.
Harry knew he couldn’t stay away forever; he owned the house and would need to see what kind of shape it was in. But he didn’t want to go back. So far he’d managed to avoid going back; he’d helped with the cleanup effort during the summer and then attended Hogwarts for a repeat of his seventh year. Winter break had been spent at his new boyfriend’s home. Draco Malfoy had gotten himself a loft to live in after the war and invited Harry to join him there for the break.
However now summer was rapidly approaching and, while Draco had asked Harry to move in with him and Harry had accepted, he knew he couldn’t keep avoiding his house on Grimmauld place. But he couldn’t go there alone. He’d considered asking his two best friends to accompany him, but he didn’t really want to bother them with his silly problems. Besides, they would be busy buying their own home and planning their wedding.
His only real option was his boyfriend. Harry knew Draco would happily go with him. And really, Harry wanted him to be there with him. Harry just didn’t really want to face those memories.
“Harry?” Draco asked one evening as they lay together in Harry’s bed in Gryffindor Tower. “Is something bothering you?”
Harry smiled slightly. “Sometimes I think you know me too well.”
Draco smiled back. “I spent seven years watching your every move, of course I know you so well.” He paused to give the brunet a chaste kiss. “What’s wrong?”
“I need to go to Grimmauld Place,” Harry said, barely above a whisper. Draco nodded but remained silent; he knew what that simple statement really meant. Harry needed his support as he relived some hard memories. “I want you to come with me.”
Draco didn’t hesitate. “Of course.” He placed another chaste kiss on the Gryffindor’s lips. “When do you want to go?”
“Well, I was thinking we could go right there from here,” Harry said nervously.
Draco’s smile widened. “Sounds like a good plan.” He paused. “Now come here and kiss me like you mean it.”
Harry grinned and happily obliged.
