Harry sat with a small group of friends in an empty classroom on the fourth floor of Hogwarts. It was a cold and snowy day; the first day back after Christmas break. His friends were chatting happily about their time at home, but Harry’s time away from Hogwarts had been lonely. He’d spent the break by himself at Number 12 Grimmauld Place, attempting to make it feel like home by cleaning and redecorating. He hadn’t made much progress and he was glad to be back at school, even if this was his very last term there.
The one thing that made his break worse was that his new boyfriend, Draco, had been unable to visit him. The blond had been busy with his parents and the community service he’d been sentenced to after the war several months ago. Harry had missed the other man terribly and was glad to return to Hogwarts and Draco. But now Draco was suspiciously absent from the little gathering and Harry was beginning to get really upset.
“Oi, Harry!” Seamus called, puling Harry out of his thoughts momentarily. “How was your break?”
Harry sighed, “Nothing special.” It was true. He’d received gifts from his friends on Christmas morning but he would have rather they’d sent themselves. He had missed spending the holidays at the Burrow, and while he was always welcome there he hadn’t really wanted to be around so many people. And he was still avoiding Ginny, who was angry that he was dating Draco instead of her.
He’d sent gifts to everyone as well, including mismatched socks for Luna, a shower curtain decorated with rubber ducks for Mr. Weasley, and a t-shirt that read “I suspect aliens” for Seamus (who was currently wearing said article of clothing). Harry had managed to get thoughtful gifts for everyone on his list that year and in the days that followed Christmas he had received many thank-yous from his friends. He’s made a resolution for New Years that he’d do the same thing every year from then on.
Harry sat in a daze in the classroom, not even noticing when the door opened and closed behind him. Suddenly there were a pair of arms around his waist and Harry looked up into gray eyes. He smiled and gave Draco a quick kiss before settling into the blond’s embrace with a huge grin on his face. Things were always better when Draco was around. “Where were you Draco?” he asked, curious.
“The Hogsmeade Post Office. I had to mail a late Christmas gift to Pansy,” Draco said, pulling Harry tighter to his chest.
“What did you get her?”
“A mixtape,” Draco told him. “I finished making it just yesterday. You wouldn’t believe how hard it was for me to get away from the Manor to do it.” He rested his head on Harry’s shoulder, his face turned into the brunet’s neck, and sighed contentedly. “I missed you so much.”
Harry closed his eyes, loving the feel of Draco’s breath on his neck. “Me too.”
“So Draco,” Hermione said, interrupting their peaceful, quiet moment. Draco looked up at her with one eyebrow raised in curiosity. “What do I get for Christmas?” she asked with a cheeky grin.
Draco smiled and chuckled slightly. “I will allow you to hug me once a month.”
Hermione laughed along with the rest of their group. “I feel so honored.”
Draco’s smile widened. “You should.” Then he turned Harry’s head and kissed him passionately, ignoring the rest of the people in the room as they continued talking.
