Albus Severus Potter was turning fourteen. For his birthday his uncle, Teddy, was taking him on a camping trip. It was just the boys, well, not all the boys, just those two. It was a planned excursion for the better part of a week to go about the countryside and generally play and be boys. Since Teddy was plenty older (a ripe twenty-two, as he would tell you) he had arranged every single item in the attempts to peak Albus’ interests as the week went on.

“Teddy.” Albus was buried in his sleeping bag, looking like an odd red worm. His hair fell around his brown eyes as he tipped his head. “I’m still cold.” The summer was unusually chilly and even though Ginny had packed Albus with clothing enough to last him for several years, the young boy seemed not to want to utilize it.

“Albus.” Teddy sighed, feeling a bit cross. “I know you want to use magic, but the point of a true camping trip is to do it like Muggles do. I thought that was what you wanted!”

Rolling onto his side, still in the red cocoon, he looked through his lashes up at Teddy. “I do, but I’m COLD.” He pouted in a way that could only belong to a middle child as well as the son of Ginny Weasley. “Why do we have to sleep on opposite ends of the tent, in different bags!” The young boy huffed. “In the book that Lily got me it said that the fastest way to warm someone up is through body heat. Why can’t we just zip our bags together?”

“Just because Lily got you a book, doesn’t make it right.” Even as he said this, Teddy knew that it was true. He was simply trying to avoid the inevitable, which seemed was coming much more rapidly than he intended.

Rolling over like a log and removing much of the space between them in the tent, Albus scooched up to Teddy. “If you don’t, and I get frostbite, you know my mum will never forgive you.” Those were the words that drove the knife home. Through all the wonderful things that the Potters had done for Teddy, fearing the wrath of Albus’ parents was rather significant.

“We unzip on the count of three, ok?” Teddy wiggled around in his sleeping bag to find the zipper properly. “One. Two.”

“THREE!” Albus yelled, yanking down on the zipper in his own bag. Quickly he moved forward and in a flurry of motion and color, the boys were then in one larger sleeping back sharing the space. “Maybe I should wear mum’s hat. Lily’s book said that most of your body head escapes through your feet and your head.” He smiled brightly as Teddy tried to find a comfortable way to lay down, and rather found he was failing miserably. There were several seconds of long silence. “Body heat, Teddy, body heat.” And without further prompting Albus pushed himself through the sleeping bag and up against his cousin.

“Teddy?” Albus paused, collecting his thoughts. “Did you ever fancy a boy?”
“Do you mean as friends, or fancy one the way I fancy Victoire?”

“Like how you do her.”

“Well…” Teddy exhaled, the scent of toothpaste wafting through the small space and ruffling Albus’ hair gently. “I do have a fond spot for someone, but I’ve never told them.”

Albus rested a hand on Teddy’s chest. “I know who it is.”

“No you don’t!” Exclaimed Teddy, surprised at words and actions.

“I do too, Teddy Remus Lupin.” Albus huffed, pressing himself against his cousin. “Even if your words deny it, your body doesn’t.” Intentionally moving a leg, he pressed it against Teddy’s groin and was rewarded by a breathy gasp.

Teddy pulled back slightly. “Albus, I really don’t think this is appropriate. I mean, your family would kill me. Victoire would kill me-“

“And doing this won’t kill you. It IS a release, after all.” Albus smiled again and wiggled in yet again, pressing his hands against Teddy’s chest and letting them slip downwards suggestively.

“H-how did you get sorted Gryffindor again? You’re so cunning right now…”

“Only for you, Teddy.” Albus pushed his hands over the waistband of the pajama pants the older boy was wearing and slid them down slightly. With a single finger he traced it along the now exposed skin and felt himself blush red the whole way up to his ears. “You know.” He added softly, pushing his right hand fully past the drawstring and down into the pants. “I’ve never done this with a guy before…”

“Shut up and stop teasing, Albus.” Teddy leaned back, submitting to the situation. “If you’re bent on going through with this, and you are, you’d better make it worth my while.” Teddy hoped that he would either shock Albus enough to stop, or that the younger boy would go forward and get the whole thing out of his system. Either way, leaving it in the air at this point would be a poor decision.

“Ok.” The younger boy rolled closer, searching, eager for encouragement.

“Oh, Albus.”

“Albus. Albus. ALBUS!”

Albus woke with a start, James and Lily standing over him in his bed. “He’s awake!” Lily announced sounding quite pleased. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

“What kind of dream were you having, mate?” James cocked his head, black hair falling every which way. “You were all but calling your own name!”

“Go away.” Albus grumbled, purposely rolling to his side. He was entirely embarrassed, not only about the recent dream, but now that he had things to ‘take care of’ but couldn’t due to current company.

Lily poked at his shoulder. “Come on, it’s your birthday! Let’s go do something! Anything you want.” She smiled from ear to ear, eager to celebrate.

“What I want first, is to be left alone.” He stated this flatly, as if it should be taken as law. “I have some things to do before I come down for breakfast.”

“Things?” Suddenly a knowing look crossed James’ face. “A shower, right? I’ll tell mum you’ll be down in a bit.”

“A shower?” Lily blinked at both of them. “Well that can WAIT!”

James took Lily and spun her around, pushing her towards the door. “Come on Lil. It is his birthday after all, and if the man wants to be left alone, we should leave him alone.” Upon exiting, James was sure to close the door firmly behind him. “Clearly, the man needs his privacy.”

Albus sighed heavily. Clearly that was the strangest dream ever followed by an equally odd morning. He closed his eyes, feeling himself sink into his bed again properly. He really should take care of things before breakfast and his sister came back to check on him.
