“Let’s break up”
Those were the last words of Ron. Holding a broken heart, she slowly walked back to her room.
“I am in love with your best friend. Sorry”
Who would have thought, her closest two friends. The betrayal is hard to swallow.
“Sorry Hermione, we never meant to hut you”
They have been the best of friends since day one of school. Yet, she was the last to know of the secret relationship both her ex-best friend and ex-boyfriend shared.
As she made her way back to the Gryffindor common room, she noticed someone else was along with her in the passageway. Ignoring the person, she walked up the stairway just as it was about to move.
“Hello Hermione.”
Startled by the sudden voice behind her, she turned and saw Cedric.
“You scared me, Cedric. Where did you come from?”
Cedric remained silent.
“I wish to confess to you about something.”
Hermione thought this was odd. What is there to confess about?
“I wish to tell you that I love you and I hope you agree to become my girlfriend”
She was shocked beyond words. Did Cedric just tell her he loved her? Impossible! No one knew Ron broke up with her. Not yet anyway. And now this? Plus she knew little about Cedric, except he is the Hufflepuff seeker and that he dated Cho before.
“I know you find this absurd but I really, really hope you can accept me”
Hermione just kept quiet while the stairway finally came to a stop. She was not about to go into another relationship when she just gotten out of one. So she ignored Cedric and ran off, leaving him behind.
Next morning she received a note from Cedric.
“Sorry for scaring you yesterday night, Hermione. I apologise and hope you do not think I was a crazy fool. The only reason why I did what I did was simply because of you. I feel your pain and I know what you have been going through.
YES, I WAS THE ONE HARRY DATED BEFORE HE AND RON FELL IN LOVE.
Cho was just a cover-up. She was only a girlfriend in name. My true love has been Harry all along.
Before you think that I asked you to be my girlfriend so as to take revenge on those two or simply because of pity, you were wrong. I have noticed you for quite some time already and realised we share lots of common interests, in fact more that what Harry and I shared. The more I observed you, the more I realised we could have been together. I never thought this was possible, until now.
Please forgive me if you think this is out of the question for you. I will always be here for you. Let us forget the past and move on. Hope to see your lovely smile again.
