Al didn’t really get picked on even though he was kind of shy and lame and no one respected him, because the school just wasn’t big enough and plus Slytherins are only bullies to Gryffindors or people without any useful connections. Sometimes James left Dungbombs in his bag when he wasn’t looking at mealtimes, but for the most part Albus Potter kept his head down and his mouth shut, mortified that his teachers kept comparing him to his dad, Harry Potter the Boy Who Lived the Man Who Lived Again the Hero of the World the Main Character of the Wizarding World, et cetera, and he was in Slytherin which his dad notoriously hated.
He’d asked the Sorting Hat “Can I be in Gryffindor, please? I don’t want my dad to hate me.”
The Sorting Hat chuckled mysteriously in his ear. “No. You are too much of a coward.”
So he ended up Slytherin. At least he was going to be rich and successful someday and his best friend Malfoy played Gobstones and Wizard Chess and Exploding Snap with him all the time so he didn’t feel so bad about being a slimy evil green-wearing git on top of a sad loser and a disappointment. He found that Scorpius was the best at chess, and Quidditch, and Charms - but he could pound anybody at Gobstones and was a real Care of Magical Creatures buff, so eventually he earned their respect and reconciled with himself how very awesome Slytherin is.
