The Room of Requirement had been destroyed by Goyle’s fiendfyre the previous year, but Hogwarts castle was more than just a building. It was a living being, able to mutate and change to its inhabitants needs, and one of its inhabitants in particular needed a new secret room, and so Hogwarts provided.

Draco was not surprised when he found the secret room. He had an affinity for finding places others could not. Perhaps it had something to do with growing up in Malfoy manor with its thousands of doors and thousands more hiding spots. Either way, the room became his refuge during his return to Hogwarts for his final year, allowing him to get away from the accusatory stares of the students both outside and within his House.

What did surprise Draco is that while on a study break from his exams, he was drinking some of the Butterbeer the room had so kindly provided and Hermione Granger walked in. Draco stared at her a moment and she stared back at him, evidently very confused and then very curious.

“That’s not fair and you know it,” Draco muttered to the room’s walls and he imagined that Hogwarts was laughing at him.

The door swung shut behind Hermione without her having touched the handle. She turned around in shock and immediately began to pull at it, but it would not budge. Draco grew suspicious of the room’s intentions.

“Where are we,” Hermione asked, her voice slightly higher than usual, “I opened the door to the library and ended up here.”

Draco was not surprised. Evidently Hogwarts wanted him and Hermione Granger to spend some time together. He wondered if this to was acting on his own desires, then pushed those thoughts away. A secret desire for Hermione Granger? Unlikely.

“Grab a seat, Granger,” Draco motioned to the cushions that he was sitting on. They had seemed odd when he first arrived, usually he had some kind of table to sit at, but now the room’s choice made perfect sense, “It seems we have something to discuss and the room’s not going to let us out until we do.”

350/50 + 5 = 12 points for Gryffindor
