Draco knocked softly on his aunt's bedroom door, half hoping she wouldn't respond.
"Come in, Draco," he heard in reply.
He turned the knob and opened the door just wide enough to stick his head through. "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes, yes. Come in and close the door behind you." Bellatrix gave Draco a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Have a seat."
Draco surveyed the room. As his aunt was already occupying the only chair in the room, a seat at her vanity, his only option was to sit on her bed. Bellatrix looked deep into Draco's eyes until he became so uncomfortable he had to look away from her. She arose from her seat and moved to sit next to Draco on the bed.
"Draco, you've been given a very important mission," she said as she reached a hand up to stroke his hair. "We must ensure that no one gets in your way." She stood again and walked to the window. After a moment of contemplation, she turned back towards Draco. "You must not trust anyone, my boy. Not your parents. Not your Auntie Bella. And certainly not anyone who resides within the walls of Hogwarts. And that is why I've summoned you here: I'm going to teach you the art of Occlumency."
Draco blinked, surprised. He had not known what to expect of this meeting, but the possibility of Occlumency had not entered his mind. Draco looked up to find his aunt standing directly in front of him.
"We shall begin immediately."
