It was a peculiar kind of friendship among them.
There's Salazar Slytherin always arguing with Godric Gryffindor of his principles, with Gryffindor snapping back in annoyance with his policies. Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw had took it to their heart to not bother them anymore, because to them, its just another daily part of life they had to undergo. Ravenclaw took upon the designing of Hogwarts as her duty, seeing that both Slytherin nor Gryffindor had actually bothered about that anyway. Whereas Hufflepuff, dear Hufflepuff had brought in five more house elves with her.
There goes another day of life.
