Title: There Was No Pain
Characters/Pairings: No pairings, Harry.
Summary: Harry is dying, but he feels none of his own pain, only theirs.
Genre: Angst
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 perhaps, because of the Character Death.
Wordcount: 171 (it's pretty short, but since the 'drabble'-tag was less than 100 words, I put it as a ficlet.)
It was weird. It was nothing like anything he had ever experienced, or even imagined before. He could see their blurred movements as they gestured desperately. Their horrified grimaces stood out from the blur of colours and movement, painting a strange picture of the world he was about to leave. He felt no pain, but he saw theirs clearly in their distorted faces. The image of them began tilting and he knew he was falling. Slowly, but inevitably.
They were all he had ever really had, and they were the last thing he saw in a distorted image of the life he had lived. There was no pain, but he felt theirs. The bright blue sky above seemed to mock him as he lay on his back watching it. The touch of someone’s hand felt vibrant with life against him, full of what he was about to lose. Sounds tore through his head, but it was nothing he could make sense of.
There was no pain, but he heard theirs.
