That’s not my home, Hermione mentally repeats. How many times does she have to say the lie to make it true? The living room where they sang her twelve happy birthdays. The bedroom she filled with books. The kitchen where she discovered what she could do, what she was.
That place is nothing but an empty building. Her parents are on their way to Australia, with no recollection of the memories Hermione tries to bury, without remembering that she was born. That she is theirs. That she exists.
That house has been turned into a deathtrap.
She has no home.

Nothing but dirt with a blood too pure for her. She is Nothing. But her father isn’t there and neither is her brother. Their yells are trapped in Azkaban.
They are gone. Feelings mix in her empty stomach. She stares at the stain and at her own raw fingers. And then the spot is gone. Magically.
Something new burns in her but it doesn’t hurt. She can do magic.
