"He's cute, though," Andromeda said, almost to herself, as she watched a group of Ravenclaws study on the grass a few yards away. Bellatrix barely looked up from her own book to make a non-committal noise. Andromeda sighed dramatically, wishing her sister would be more social -- wishing she could talk about something than blood purity and the ruin of the magic world. She watched the group of Ravenclaws a little longer, focusing on the fair-haired boy she thought had a romantic look about him. She wondered if he cared about blood purity.
"Let's go back inside," Bellatrix suggested, closing up her book and gathering her robes around her. "There's too many people out here."
Not wanting to upset her older sister, Andromeda picked up her own world, which she had disregarded in favor of people watching, and followed her back into the castle.
"You should spend less time looking at boys," Bellatrix told her on the way back. Andromeda couldn't help but roll her eyes.
"You may be obsessed with a fear-mongering celebrity but I prefer to focus on people that know I exist."
She had barely finished her sentence when Bellatrix whipped around to face her. The sudden movement caused Andromeda to drop the books in her arms.
"He," Bellatrix began, noticeably not using his name and dropping her voice. "Is a genius. He will right everything in the wizarding world, return us to our roots and we will no longer be corrupted by mudbloods and sympathizers." She reached out and gripped Andromeda's shoulders, Bellatrix's long fingers digging into her skin. "You should forget about Muggleborn Ravenclaw boys that would rather read a book than kiss you." With that, she turned and sped down the hallway, leaving Andromeda to pick up her books alone.

Stebbins straightens his dress robes for what feels like the hundredth time. He wants everything to be just perfect. The Yule Ball is a big deal, of course. How else would he ever have gotten the courage to ask out Sara Fawcett. Besides being gorgeous, she was very intimidating. No one thought he'd have the guts to go through with it. And even if he did, there were bets all around the Hufflepuff Common Room on whether she would politely decline or laugh in his face. She said yes, though, and here Stebbins was, adjusting his outfit in front of the mirror before going to meet her outside the Great Hall. Tonight was going to be amazing, even if they danced just one time together.
Part of him thought she was just being nice and he was okay with that. But the way she touched his arm, her fingers delicate against the fabric of his robe, and smiled shyly up at him, Stebbins thought she might have real feelings for him.

Later that night, they sat outside the Ravenclaw Common Room, mocking the eagle doorknocker and snacking on cupcakes they borrowed from the kitchens.
"Don't tell anyone," Sara whispered into his ear. "I really like you. But I don't want this to get around."
Stebbins was hurt. He felt his heart drop into his stomach. If she really liked him, why did they have be so secretive.
"I mean house points are so important. Ravenclaw really has a shot to win. And if anyone knows I got docked for sneaking out to snog..."
He couldn't help but smile then. She didn't care if anyone knew they were dating -- just that they lost some house points. He breathed a sigh of relief and leaned forward to kiss her on the cheek.
"A secret it is," he agreed.
