Fred opened the door of the flower shop, somewhere in the back, a bell tinkled and Justin stepped out.

“Good After-.” he grined “Why hello.”

“Er...hi.”

“What can I help you with, Fred?”

“I'm coming on behalf of George.”

“Oh?”

“Well, I didn't want him to know I was here. I told him I was going to make the bank, which is true, I went.”

“But what?” Justin asked with a sly grin

“I want to get him and Susan together.”

“So he told you then?”

“Oh yeah, right after he came home from the Halloween party. He's been moping ever since. I got ahold of Ron, and he told me who the 'mystery' girl was. So, here I am.”

Justin grinned, “I think I have a plan....Come with me...”

Fred walked back up into the apartment, where George was sitting at the kitchen table, pouring over inventory books.

“Hey Georgie”

George turned around, “There you are, I thought you'd be back way before now.”

“I...had to run an errand.”

“Oh?” George quipped an eyebrow

“Yeah.” Fred smiled

“What kind of errand?” George asked suspiciously

Fred sighed, “I invited someone for dinner.”

“Dinner?”

“Yeah.”

“Who?”

Fred grinned, “You'll see...”

“Fred...” George said with a warning voice.

“Yes George?” he said with an innocent look

“What'd you do?”

“Nothing. It's a surprise, you'll like it.”

“I better...”

“Oh you will,” Fred said with a look.

“Well, what time are they coming?”

“She, is coming at 6.”

George looked up at the clock, it was 5:30 now, not much time to do anything. He turned to Fred and gave him a glare.

“You're only giving me 30 minutes?”

“Yeah, go get ready, I've got everything else taken care of.”

George walked off to the bathroom, still glaring at Fred as he went. He hated being set up on dates, and he wasn't sure if he was ready for a date yet or not. The wound was still semi-fresh from Angelina and there was still Veronica...or whatever her name was, out there. He sighed and got in the shower and let the hot water wash over him, soaking in his thoughts. He got out, toweled off and went to the bedroom to find a clean sweater and slacks. By the time he got out, the table was set for two.

“Fred?”

He looked around but didn't see him, just a piece of paper on the table.

Georgie,

Here's your surprise. Turn around.

George turned around just in time to hear a soft knock on the door. Puzzled he went to open it slowly, much to his surprise, Veronica was standing there. They both jumped.

“It's you!” they said at the same time

Susan looked down and mumbled, “I must be at the wrong place...I should go...”
George reached out and grabbed her arm, “No don't...please, stay.”

Susan looked up, and George looked at her earnestly, she opened her mouth to say something else, but closed it. “Okay...” she said quietly.

George smiled, “Come on in.”

Susan relaxed a little bit and stepped inside.

“Hi.” George said softly and warmly

“Hi...” Susan stammered, she was nervous, she liked Gerorge, a lot but she was scared to admit it.

“Can I take your cloak?”

“Oh, sure.” She shrugged it off and handed it to George, who hung it up near the door. “Thank you”

“You're welcome,” he smiled, “are you hungry?”

“Um, yeah.”

“Have a seat” he gestured and pulled out a chair, while Susan gingerly sat down.

“What are we having?”

George chuckled, “I'm not sure. Fred said he'd take care of it.”

“Oh he did? So you knew...”

“I had no idea, to be quiet honest. This was a complete surprise to me.”

“Justin just told me to show up here at 7. Something about a surprise. It certainly was...”

“No kidding. But it was a nice surprise” George said, as he uncovered plates.

They surveyed what they had, it was sandwiches and some other finger foods.

“Looks good,” Susan said, as she looked over everything. George handed her a plate that had a pile of sandwiches on them. He looked around.

“This is too formal,” he said “lets sit on the floor.”

“The floor?”

“Yeah, why not?”

“Alright.”

George spread a blanket out on to the floor, and grabbed the plates and set them down on the blanket. He sat down and waved Susan down, “Come on” he said with a grin.

Susan sat down across from him, smiling.

“This is fun” she said

“Yeah, considering we can't go outside...”

“Yeah, its so cold outside.”

“Yeah...” George said thoughtfully “You want some hot cocoa or...something?”

“Sure,” Susan said with a smile

George waved his wand, making two mugs of steaming hot cocoa appear before him.

“Here you go”

Susan took the mug and held it in her hands, feeling the warmth in them. “Thank you,” she said taking a sip.

“I'm really glad you came tonight...I know your name isn't Veronica.”

“No. Its Susan.”

George studied her, “I've....been thinking about you, ever since our encounter.”

“You have?” she squeaked and blushed

“Yeah, I have. I've been hoping to see you again.”

“I'm sorry...I was so scared...”

“Scared of what?”

“I...I don't know. Everything, I guess.”

“There's nothing to be scared of Susan, I promise.”

“That's what scares me the most, I think.”

“Nothing to be afraid of?”

“Yeah.”

“Why's that?” George asked with a head tilt

“I don't know...I guess...I guess I just really like you George, and I'm scared of everything that goes with that.”
“Well Susan, I can promise you, that I'm a bit scared too. But I promise, I'm with you every step of the way.”

Susan nodded and took a sip of her cocoa. “You're right.”

“ 'Course I am.” he said with a grin.

Susan looked at the clock on the wall, “It's getting late, I better get home...”

George got a sad look, “Don't you know its cold out there?”

“Yeah...but Justin is going to worry and he'll be there pacing the door, you know how he is.”

“Yeah, but I'm pretty sure he can wait til morning to see you.”

“Are you sure?” Susan asked, really unsure herself.

“I am, cause baby, its cold outside.” George said, moving over to softly kissed her lips. “So stay?”

Susan smiled warmly, “Alright, I'll stay.”
