“Oh Duddydear, come to Mummy. Mummy loves her Diddy Dumpkins.” Petunia picked up her toddler and “Oh Duddydear, come to Mummy. Mummy loves her Diddy Dumpkins.” Petunia picked up her toddler and carried him into the other room. “Did you show Daddy your costume?”
“What’s that, Petunia?” Vernon looked up as his wife and son walked into the room. “Oh looky there. My little man all ready for Smeltings!”
“Isn’t he just precious?” Petunia handed Dudley to his father. “Let me get the camera for his second Halloween!”
“That’s Daddy’s good boy. Yes, you will make a fine man one day.” Vernon was absorbed in the antics of the toddler. He let him down to crawl around on the floor.
Petunia went to pick up the camera, and stopped. “My goodness, did you feel a cold chill, Vernon?”
Vernon looked up to his wife. “No, dear. Are you feeling alright?”
She nodded. “It must have just been a spell…”
“Don’t say that word!” Vernon almost shouted.
“You’re right, Vernon. How silly of me. Although, you know Halloween was my sister’s favorite holiday. I wonder how she is celebrating.” Petunia walked over to her husband and sat down beside him. She held up the camera and snapped a few pictures of her son.
“I know she is your sister, but we decided to try and not talk about her. We are just normal people, with a normal family.”
Petunia lay her head down on Vernon’s shoulder. “You are right dear. I think it is time to turn out the lights and put little Dudders to bed. I do believe he is finally exhausted after all that candy he received tonight.”
Vernon turned to face his wife. He kissed her softly and whispered. “Happy Halloween, Petunia.”
