It's exhausting to be a snitch.
There's all that whizzing and darting through the skies while twisting and turning, and not to mention those bloody players on brooms flying around. You've got to dodge and weave your way around the arena, despite the fact that it's so very big and you're so very tiny.
But no one ever cares about that! They just keep chasing you around, swiping and grabbing with sweaty hands until they finally manage to snare you. And what do you get for all of your hard work? Shoved back into a small, dark box, that's what.
Title: Still Breathing
Summary: Fred doesn't die in the Battle of Hogwarts
Characters/Pairings: Fred
Genre: Gen
Beta: none
Rating/Warnings: G/none
Medium: Drabble (Challenge 44)
Word Count: 93
He can't move.
The world is heavy on his chest, an impossible burden that he can't ignore. It hurts to breathe but he's still choking on ragged breaths like his life depends on it (it does). The air feels thick, almost tangible, and it's clogging his ears so that all the outside sounds he should be hearing are washed out and pale. The sting of a spell that missed its mark is burning against his side, a warm reminder that there's still a war raging on around him.
But he's alive. He's alive.
Title: Stairwell
Summary: A look into the house of Ron and Hermione.
Characters/Pairings: Ron/Hermione, Harry
Genre: Gen
Beta: none
Rating/Warnings: G/none
Medium: Drabble (Challenge 55)
Word Count: 100
Harry has visited Ron and Hermione's house several times over the years. They redecorate often, changing the interior to match the seasons and holidays for the children. But there's one thing that never changes- a stairwell that circles upwards, marking the path to Hermione's personal library. The entire structure is lined with books that won't fit inside the room, stacked 'just so' and no one else is allowed to touch them. There are a few toys lying amidst the piles, memoirs of a child's curious adventures.
Ron shrugs and rolls his eyes, but Harry just looks at it and smiles.
Title: Persuasion

Characters/Pairings: Hagrid, random centaurs
Genre: Humor
Beta: none
Rating/Warnings: G/none
Medium: Drabble (Challenge 63)

The centaurs regard a drunken Hagrid with disapproval. He has been trying to persuade them for nearly an hour now that they should dress up like unicorns. His arms wave frantically as he talks.
So far Hagrid has insisted that they would 'look cool', that 'all the other centaurs are doing it', and that dressing up is 'so much fun that everyone should try it'.
One centaur interrupts Hagrid to ask, "then why don't you go dress up like a unicorn?"
He scoffs and starts stumbling away. "No one in 'is right mind would go prancing 'round like a unicorn!"
Title: Scars
Summary: George has scars
Characters/Pairings: George
Genre: Angst?
Beta: none
Rating/Warnings: T/none
Medium: Drabble (Challenge 72)
Word Count: 100
George has scars, light pink tendrils that snake their way across his chest and over his shoulder. He tries to ignore them, the steady reminder that he survived the war against Voldemort and Fred didn't.
Sometimes he forgets, and those brief moments are a breath of fresh air, cool and crisp around the edges. But the scars never forget what happened. They burn against his skin, phantom pains that serve only to drag him back to reality like a red-hot branding iron.
He doesn't know if they will ever stop haunting him, and most days he doesn't want them to.
Title: Wands, wands, everywhere
Summary: Ollivander's wand shop
Characters/Pairings: Ollivander's
Genre: Gen
Beta: none
Rating/Warnings: G/none
Medium: Drabble (Challenge 41)
Word Count: 100
Everyone knows the name.
Ollivander's. It rolls off your tongue like silk, filling your head with pleasant memories and warm thoughts. It's one of the first places you visit in Diagon Alley, stomach twisting with nerves and smiles plastered to your faces like they'll never leave. It's where you finally get your wand (or should I say it gets you) after all those years of impatiently awaiting the owl to arrive. You'll hold on to your wand forever, because it just feels right and you can't imagine one that could possibly be more exceptional.
It's the beginning of something better.
Title: Dear Squid
Summary: Aragog writes a love poem to the Giant Squid
Characters/Pairings: Aragog/Giant Squid
Genre: Romance/Humor/Crack
Beta: none
Rating/Warnings: G/none I guess?
Medium: Poetry (Challenge 25)
Word Count: 115
Dear Giant Squid, this is to you
I hope that you will hear me through.
I've admired you for many years
and even kept some souvenirs-
like a splinter from that ancient tree,
the one you smashed to kill that bee.
Your tentacles are oh so long
And probably, they're pretty strong.
I may be huge but you're gigantic.
(To me that sounds pretty romantic)
When you kill and eat your food
I've got to say, my eyes are glued.
You're the sweetest squid I've ever known
even if you're overgrown.
You've got a twinkle in your eye
Bigger than a fruit fly pie.
Please say that you'll be my squid
Sincerely yours, an arachnid.
