Drabble Challenge #6
Scenario: Harry at the Dursleys (any age)
Word Count: 100
Dudley’s birthday is right before Harry’s. He finds this out the hard way when they’re three years old and Dudley is boasting that because he has just turned four that he will get at least four presents for his birthday while Harry will get absolutely none. His face is positively smug when he says this as often as possible. He even sings it in a tune that he hopes annoys Harry. It doesn’t. Not really anyway.
Harry doesn’t mind, though. He doesn’t want presents. He just wants his mum and dad. He doesn’t understand why they can’t take him home.
Drabble Challenge # 10
Character: Dudley Dursley
Genre: Angst (or angst like)
Word Count: 100
He doesn’t get why his parents are so afraid of Harry. Harry isn’t special at all. He’s a scrawny little toad who can only run faster than he can because he doesn’t get fed like Dudley does. Harry often gets punished and Dudley loves rubbing it in his face, or creating trouble so Harry will get blamed.
He just wants his family to stop worrying about why Harry is such a freak and just kick him out. Who cares if they’re only in primary school? Harry might still get adopted by someone. Or maybe old Mrs Figg could take him.
Drabble Challenge #5
Person: Percy Weasley
Setting: During Hogwarts
Every morning, Percy would take a cloth and a special polishing potion and he would make sure that his prefect badge would positively glisten. If he looked in it at the right angle, he could see his own reflection in it. Perfect.
After polishing his prefect badge, Percy would carefully pin it to the front of the robes he was wearing for the day and he would make sure that it could easily be seen by anyone from any angle possible.
While some taunted him for his stuck up ways, Percy Weasley prided himself on being the best Prefect possible.
Drabble Challenge #11
Character: Sirius Black
Genre: Humour
Timeline: Any
Word Count: 100
“Shh, no, you’ll wake him!”
James clapped a hand over his mouth and Sirius kept a straight face as he waved his wand in a carefully complex manner over Peter’s face, leaving a trail of black ink in his wake. He had just discovered a new spell and poor Peter (yeah, right, Sirius snorted) was fast asleep in their dorm when he had got back from the library.
Not one to pass up an opportunity, Sirius decided to test out the spell on Peter, carefully tracing the words “I love Moaning Myrtle” onto his forehead in bright black, permanent ink.
Drabble Challenge #16
Character: Ginny Weasley
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 100
Her wedding day is supposed to be a happy day but the moment Ginny’s gaze falls on one Draco Malfoy, her mood turns sour. They think she doesn’t know. They think she doesn’t see the way they look at each other. The lingering touches, the not so subtle glances when they think no one else is watching. It sickens her.
Oh, but she’s always watching. Always.
It only makes her more determined to make Harry her husband. She won’t let him out of her life that easily. And if she has to be miserable in life, then so do they.
Drabble Challenge #18
Character: Draco Malfoy
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 100
Draco knows that he shouldn’t attend Harry’s wedding. It’s going to be a painful day without actually having to sit through the entire ceremony. He just wants to curl up with a bottle of Firewhisky and wish that he had never been born.
The moment he catches a glance of Harry in his wedding robes, his heart skips a beat. Harry looks positively breathless.
Their gazes catch across the way and Draco bites his lip. He’s compelled to walk forwards but a soft ‘don’t’ stops him firmly in his tracks. This is it - it’s over. They’ll never be them again.
Drabble Challenge #22
Character: Remus Lupin
Genre: Romance
Word Count: 100
There was something to say about love. If he was honest with himself, Remus never believed he could find love but the world was magical. He met Sirius Black on the train to Hogwarts when he was eleven years old and now, at seventeen, sitting in the back of their History of Magic classroom, Sirius is tracing words onto his skin with his quill.
Remus vaguely makes out ‘I love you’ on his skin before it disappears with a flourish of Sirius’ wand. He shoots Sirius a quizzical look and Sirius just smiles brightly back at him, lovingly and happy.
Drabble Challenge #24
Character: Ron Weasley
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 100
Leaving was possibly the hardest thing he had to do. He regretted it as soon as he had apparated away from their protective enchantments and the moment his feet hit the pavement of a random street, he was attacked. Thankfully, Ron had always been quick on his feet and had managed to escape.
He apparated back to the site of their last stop but couldn’t find his way back in. Once he realised that Harry and Hermione had moved on already, Ron felt incredibly guilty and miserable. He sank to the ground and cried like he had never cried before.
Drabble Challenge #26
Character: Weddings
Genre: Romance/Fluff
Word Count: 100
As Harry looked across at Draco, he realised that there were moments, in everyone’s lives where, yes, everything was perfect. He took in Draco’s perfectly tailored robes, the way they sat on him, making him look positively regal and oh, so beautiful. He positively glowed with happiness - a sight not many people had been privy to witness before.
Harry grinned back at them as they exchanged wedding vows, his gaze not once leaving Draco’s face. Harry never thought that he would get this chance again but he was so glad he had. Draco was his everything. Now and forever more.
Drabble Challenge # 29
Character: Cedric Diggory
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 100
He should have felt good that Cho had chosen him over Harry. He had heard about that about half an hour after it had happened. Cho had told her girlfriends, who had, in turn, told all of their other friends that the Harry Potter had asked Cho to the Yule Ball. It was the gossip of the week.
Cedric wanted to feel good about it all but he couldn’t help but feel that, if given the chance, Cho would have dropped him in an instant. Who was he compared to the great Harry Potter? He was a nobody. A nothing
Drabble Challenge # 30
Character: Charlie Weasley
Genre: Any
Word Count: 100
“Is that a… piercing?”
Charlie grinned widely.
“Oh my… Arthur! Charlie has pierced his ear.”
“Molly, I’m sure it isn’t as bad as - Merlin’s beard! That looks a bit red, Charlie.”
“Dad, it’s fine. I just got it done. Doesn’t it look wicked?”
“I want to pierce my ear!”
“Fred, hush, you’re much too young!”
“But, Mum! I want to! Charlie has his done!”
“Charlie is an adult, Fred.”
“Arthur, you are not helping here!”
“I think it looks good.”
“Cheers, Bill. I thought of you when I had it done.”
“It makes you look… very manly.”
Charlie just grinned.
Drabble Challenge # 31
Character: Pansy Parkinson
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 100
Many people believed throughout her entire time at Hogwarts that she and Draco were betrothed. They were wrong. Pansy knew more about Draco than she would ever care to admit but she also knew that they wouldn’t ever end up together. The Parkinson name was never going to join with the Malfoy line, and as a child, that had annoyed her so much. She loved Draco but as she grew up, it was as a dear friend.
She hated, more than anything, that she would never be able to marry the person that she loved. No Parkinson was ever gay.
Drabble Challenge # 32
Character: Luna Lovegood
Genre: Any
Word Count: 100
Ever since she was a little girl, Luna had loved working in the garden. She never wore shoes when she did so, preferring to be able to feel the dirt beneath her feet. She would scrunch her toes often, letting the earth slip between her toes.
As she got older, her passion didn’t change. She loved spending time in the garden, planting things that she knew would grow into delicious vegetables or that would entice special creatures into her garden and into her life. It was her way of giving back to the earth that many people took for granted.
Drabble Challenge # 33
Character: Dean Thomas
Genre: Any
Word Count: 100
Dean stared at the letter in his hand that arrived on his eleventh birthday. The envelope was heavy and he wondered if a long lost relative had sent him a wad of money. That would have been the best - then he could get that bicycle he had had his eye on.
It wasn’t an ordinary letter though. It was written in green ink and the paper was thick, unlike he had ever seen before. When he read it, he wondered if someone was pulling a prank on him. Him? A wizard? Never!
On September 1st, Dean’s entire world changed completely.
Drabble Challenge # 35
Character: Dennis Creevey
Genre: Any
Word Count: 100
Dear Dennis
You’re going to love it here at Hogwarts! There are so many people who are like us here. It’s been a great first month! I’ve even met THE Harry Potter! Can you believe it? Me! I know Harry Potter. I’ve enclosed a photo that is charmed. One of the fourth year students showed me how to make the photographs animated, so keep an eye out for an owl coming your way again soon for more photos!
Hogwarts is amazing, Dennis. I can’t wait until you’re here too! We’re going to have so much fun!
Love your brother, Colin
Drabble Challenge # 37
Character: Aunt Petunia
Genre: Any
Word Count: 100
Vernon had lost his temper spectacularly when Petunia had opened the door to find her nephew, fast asleep, in a bundle of blankets on their front porch.
Vernon had been ready to send the boy to an orphanage but the moment Petunia red the letter that had come with Harry, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to do it, even if she had wanted to. No, she would be stuck with him until he was old enough to leave on his own.
That night, she wept for her lost sister and the little boy who looked like his mother.
Points earned 16 drabbles @ 8 points each = 128 points. Maxed out and capped at 125 points for the week.
