In other news...there's a Cat 5 Hurricane by the name of Rita headed to the general vicinity of where my parents live. They're staying there. Apparently the goats and horses would be lost without 'em, and it would take two trips to go from their place to McAllen...and they might get stuck behind some panicky schmuck on the highway.
Housten traffic is roughly 12 hours to 9 miles. Chaos is lovely, isn't it? People are all freaked out about New Orleans, when those people live BELOW sea level. Hello? But, Galveston should be shitting their pants. They have 17' walls to hold back swells....they're expecting 56' swells. Run....now. I want to be the weather man for this deal. I'd be all happy-cheery as I describe the chaos and mayhem that may ensue.
