Brace yourself- there's some bitterness

Ok, political rant here. I just got finished watching Larry King’s interview with President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. Sorry, correction- I just watched Larry King’s interview with GWB. Laura simply sat there with a moronic grin on her face, smiling and nodding to every word that came out of GW’s mouth. When she did answer a question, it simply rephrased what her husband said the moment before (slightly more eloquently though). It made me want to hurl. Not what they were saying, not what they were talking about. Just….her. Her moronic smiling and nodding. Her inability to form and/or say an individual coherent thought. Her inability to refer to her husband as anything than “Mr. President.” The entire half-an-hour I watched it, she never once referred to him as “My husband”, “my significant other”, even “George”. Always: “I agree with ‘Mr. President’ on *insert controversial political issue* and I feel his decision was the best thing for our freedom loving nation, yaddi yaddi yadda. *Smile, nod, look at Mr. President, look at Larry, make grin wider and smile some more*.”

Oh my God! I cannot stand trophy wives!!!!!!! Give me a Hilary Clinton any day. A woman who can speak for herself, hold her own opinions and do more than nod and smile. Call me a Femi-Nazi, but I am all for the whole breaking of the female stereotype. Don’t put me in a box Laura! Because it’s people like you that make the walls thicker to tear down.

Another point- I cannot stand conventions/campaigns/any Presidential rallies. I have never understood how the current President and a “working” Senator can take an entire 7 months away and travel around “the great USA” to spill Bull Shit about how much they care about *insert name of whatever group they are standing in front of*. It is not like all the issues and problems in the world stop for those 7 months. We’re in just as much danger now from terrorists as we were on September 11th, and yet Georgie Boy still can go to Podunk, Mississippi and talk to the Republican Veterans Club. The GOP convention is coming up. It’s going to be the most expensive convention ever held. I’m picking on the GOP simply because it’s coming up. The Democratic Convention was just as much of a waste of time. Can anyone name anything that was accomplished? Besides single handedly keeping the balloon factories in business. That’s the ONLY thing I can think of. But I suppose that’s what makes it all worth it. When you think about it, all campaigning is pointless. The crowds they draw are of people that ALREADY support them. Hardly any new people are drawn in, and those that are are fractional. All campaigning is is to see who can sling more bull shit on the other guy.

I am thoroughly pissed off right now. Thank you both George and John. And especially you Laura. Keep my spirits and hopes for this country high. You’re doing a marvelous job.
