about a girl
first impression: Know-it-all.
personality: She is very aware of people's impressions on her and she generally tries to make sure people like her. However, her habit of correcting people's misconceptions and throwing her hand in the air first during class seems to irritate those around her. In actually, Hermione is extremely caring of those she is close to and uses her knowledge to help as much as she can. She will always stand up for herself (except against a teacher) and, despite her morals, will help get her friends out of trouble if they're intentions were right.
friends: Harry Potter and Ron Weasley - also the other Weasleys, and many of her fellow Gryffindors and Ravenclaws
enemies: hopefully none!
history: Hermione never imagined that magic was real - it simply wasn't logical.
Her first encounter with magic was during her mad scramble to finish an in-class timed essay on Why Do Cats Purr; the teacher expected simple responses about happiness or comfortability. But just as Hermione started her sixth paragraph describing the vibration's effects on promoted healing, her pen exploded and splotched nearly half her page. Her hands were shaking so hard at the horrible sight that she could not even ask for a new sheet of paper; she had tears in her eyes and felt sick. Then the ink simply melted away - evaporated - disappeared. Hermione was in such shock that she did not complete her paper (though the teacher still gave her an A).
Randomly throughout the years, she noticed odd occurrences at times of great academic stress. The summer before her twelfth birthday, she received her Hogwarts letter and it finally made sense to her (and her dentist-parents).
The rest, if you are curious, is well documented in a biographical series following Harry James Potter, a close friend of Hermione, written by J.K. Rowling.
