Jesus saves.
A particularly militant black girl in my homeroom at
Scott had a tattoo of two hands clasped together in prayer. Under this
tattoo were the words "Jesus Saves". I began to examine the meaner
blacks at my school after this, and to my surprise, I noticed that most
of them were sporting fresh tats "FOR" Jesus. It was almost funny
because while I admit to be the furthest thing from a practicing
christian, it seems like the J-man was always preaching about
brotherhood and love for your fellow man. The same people who were
spittin' lyrics like "Im gettin' paid in advance, while otha niggas
gettin aids in the ass" had these tattoos of a man who is regarded as a
pacifist.
One day there was a really gruesome fight, a kid of about 14 had stolen an 18 year olds hat. The 18 year old proceeded to call the 14 year old a "fuck nigga" and then threw him out of his chair and began violently pounding his face into the concrete floor. As blood was poring out of this poor kids face, my vision was drawn to this mans left arm. On it, directly above the gang insignia, was a Jesus tattoo. I stopped finding any humor in these tattoos or the gangsters love for Jesus that day, now it just pisses me off.
