Social (grumble) media

Feb 11, 2012 12:47

When we first put http://heroicfantasyquarterly.com together, we gambled that in the internet age publicity would take care of itself.    We didn't want to mess with social media or anything like that, fearing that posts and updates and policing forums and whatever would get in the way of our primary funciton:  finding and publishing great heroic fantasy fiction and poetry.

And to some extent, the publicity did take care of itself, but it seems to have reached a plateau.  Oh, we get more and more hits from Russian porn/spam bots, sure, but as far as actual humans go, we seem to have gotten all the low hanging fruit we're going to get.

Thus, social media.  So we've got this livejournal, and a facebook page.  We'll eventually have something at the main HFQ site itslelf (although it may just be a link here).  We'll be posting news about upcoming projects at HFQ, and appearences by the editors, news about some of HFQ's writers, essays, odds, ends, and various and sundry.

We are still closed for fiction submissions until the first of March.  Poetry submissions are still open.

Having gone through the backlog in our inbox, we've found a few gems for furture issues.
