Disclaimer.: I do not own the character Lo. I do own the character Xavier who, along with this tale, is still underdevelopment *grins*. This is just for fun, and my love of writing. I make no profit. Enjoy J

The time we shared had been far more than pleasing, mentally as well as physically. I had never intended for Xavier to stay more than a few nights, certainly not after being informed upon our first meeting of his vagabond nature, nor had I given it much thought of his departure. I suppose I opted, instead, not to reflect on the matter and just enjoy him as much as would be allowed, which I did - immensely.

One evening, upon entering the drawing room, I found Xavier standing at the window, staring out at the night, obviously lost in his own thoughts. I cleared my throat rather loudly as to alert him of my presence. He turned slowly looking somewhat distraught at the noise that had released him from the confines of his reverie.

“Evening Louis.” Xavier spoke softly his arms folded across his chest.

“Good evening Xavier. You appear to be lost in thought?” I flashed him a genial smile.

“Mmm…yes, I guess it would appear that way..” Indolently he greeted me with a light kiss on my cheek. I could not help but notice the sparkle in his blue eyes had dimmed considerably

“Anything you would care to discuss?” I questioned scanning the book shelf, pulling a book at random, then taking a seat on the divan. I let it fall open on my lap the pages fanning out, my eyes skimming the words before I looked at him again. Xavier shook his head no. The urge to press him further was great but I had agreed with what he wanted and against my better judgment I left it at that pushing no further. It was far too obvious to see he was troubled by something and soon he could depart from me all together. I sighed silently.

Xavier sat down next to me, languorously slumping his body into the cushions. He sat very still in this morose position for a while, being considerably quiet, more than he had been the prior nights before. I began to wonder what the matter could be, if he felt he had to stay. Certainly his remaining was what I wanted but if staying was the reason for the glum mood he seemed to be in, his fears were certainly unwarranted.

“You are perfectly free to go Xavier.” I spoke soft but my voice seemed to echo in this sudden silence. “ I certainly don‘t want you to feel as if you are being held here. I am also certain by now you need to feed.” I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. Slowly turned his head to me as I pretended to be engrossed in my reading. His shoulder stiffened as he slid his body back up into a more normal sitting position.

“Well…?.” his voice fell away, perplexity shadowing his azure eyes as he studied me..

“You must feed - go on, don’t let me keep you.” I encouraged him turning to the next page.

“I …” he paused, unsure, touching me lightly on the arm, “ I assumed we would --perhaps….??”

I knew what he meant - hunt together. I smiled, looking him directly in the eye. “I prefer to hunt alone, Xavier.“

He pulled his hand back slowly, curling his fingers against his chest.

“Oh? Well…I understand…“ . He turned away slightly pursing his lips together. Again I sensed the agitation brewing in him.

“Should I return Louis or do you prefer to be left alone in general, I mean should I even bother to come back?”

I wanted to sigh but held it back, trying to appear somewhat indifferent.

“You are more than welcome to return, if that is what you wish, Xavier. I opened my home to you freely. I have no intention of closing it now.”

Slowly he leaned against me, the subtle warmth of his breath was hot fire against my cheek. his fingers once again brushing along my fore arm arousing electric sparks to dance under my skin

“Is that what you would prefer Louis? I make an appearance before the dawn?” He leaned back, his blue eyes, sparkled as he gazed into mine.

I wanted him right there, at that moment but again I did not want him to feel the urgency in me, the desperation for him in my bed - again, flesh against flesh, his blood igniting the orgasmic bliss.

“I am enjoying your company Xavier, that I will not deny, if you are inclined to return- as I said - you are welcome, more than welcome to.” I gave his hand a reassuring pat then turned my interest back to the book. Xavier sniggered, his hand falling from my arm.

“Man - that was strictly business like. “ He spat turning from me.

I took a deep breath, his scent making my head swoon although difficult, I thought it best and continued to remain blasé‘.

“Forgive me. “ I sighed closing the book “I did not intend for it to be so callous. Of course I want you to return but I am also aware of the possibility that may not happen and I am fine with that not to mention use to it.”

“You expect me just to take off without a word to you about it or not even a decent good- bye? Love em’ and leave em’ type?”

His blue eyes darkened as the agitation in him grew. He pounced from the couch and walked to the window, peering out as if expecting something or perhaps even, someone to jump out at him.

“Well I am not…I never was - not even when I was mortal. I was loyal to the hilt.” he scowled crossing his arms in front of him. “One of my downfalls.”

“Loyalty is a virtue, Xavier. It is nothing to condemn yourself for.” I set the book upon the coffee table, I stood approaching him slowly. “I was not trying to imply that you would up and leave, I was merely trying to tell you that I have no hold to you. No claim.” Casually I laid my hands on his shoulders, turning him to face me. “I don’t know your ways Xavier, only what you have cared to tell me…only what you have allowed me to know.”

“I know that Louis…I know I am free to go when I choose.” His azure eyes softening as his fingers caressed my cheek. “Ah Louis…”

Slowly he brought his lips to mine. “ Louis…I can not believe it has been so long since I felt anything…anything at all.”

His words lingered in my mind as he kissed me . His tongue parting my lips gently sliding against mine. Tenderly he explored, slowly caressing, his breathing low and steady as he teasingly pressed the moist pink tip against the edge of my fangs. The warm crimson trickled into my mouth an exquisite slow burn moving through out my body, sliding through my veins.

He sighed, breathless, as he pulled from me. Quickly my arms slid around his waist holding him to me. For a moment I gazed deeply into his eyes, a sorrowful pleading had filled them, a temptation I could not resist. I pulled him closer, resting my chin on his shoulder, breathing in his aroma, then penetrating the pulse on his throat. He moaned under my grasp, almost falling to his knees, his hands sliding up my back, clinging to me

Once again the images flashed before my eyes. I pressed my mouth tight to his flesh,

Faces of a woman and a male. Rain furiously pounding on the pavement. Black boots…

Xavier’s body went rigid against me. I felt his chest expand as he breathed in deeply, his nails digging into my arms, pushing me from him.. Reluctantly I released him.

“I need to feed Louis.”

Xavier’s voice was somber as he kissed me once again light on the cheek, then headed out into the night.

as if by fate, xavier
