A knock at the door brought her out of her amusing thoughts and back to the moment, her wedding day. To Emma. Kendra peeked around the door with a smile on her face but a tissue in her hand just in case it was necessary.
“Hiya, sis! You look so beautiful today. Have I told you that yet?”
Terri smiled back, “Kendra, I look beautiful every day, thank you. And yes, you did.” She stood as she spoke to give her now tearing sister a hug.
“I just, um, wanted to give you this, Terri. To show you how happy I am for you,” she quickly added, “both of you.” A small wrapped package was shoved into the younger sister’s hands accompanied by a quick peck to her cheek.
Terri opened the package slowly and her jaw dropped when she read the small card inside. It was a year’s cleaning service for a local “green” company that Emma had raved about when the engaged couple had eaten dinner at the Giardi’s a few weeks prior.
“Oh, Kendra! You’re just the best. I-I-I can’t thank you enough for this.” she said quietly.
“Sure you can, sis. Just get your brat of a daughter to make me some more of those cupcakes and I think we can call it even.”
It was times like this that actually made Terri happy she had a sister, crazy as she was.
