Yesterday I posted a pic of DT in the 50th and complained about his hair's lack of signature foom.*
On Facebook, this devolved into a discussion with me declaring that even his hair was ashamed of John Hurt's Doctor. It was drooping in sorrow. This turned into a revelation that Time Lords must have empathetic hair that feels emotions. Ten is usually so bouncy and crazy and so is his hair. Well...that explains Tom Baker.
Anyway, then THIS showed up. It was like the opposite of yesterday. I had no idea that my week would be overshadowed by discussions of DT's hair, which I've honestly never paid much attention to. This is from the current RSC production of Richard II that DT's appearing in;
My god...my gut reaction was, "It's David Tennant in an 80's hair band!!!"
I know it's totally period and he looks fabulous as the bad king, but holy cow. That hair!
This photo expanded on the prior discussion, with my friend speculating that the floppy hair in the 50th anniversary picture was just a red herring and this is what he'll actually look like in the special. I promptly declared that I'd pay cash money to see Ten with Richard II's hair wailing away on an electric guitar in the control room of Eleven's TARDIS. God only knows what Rose would say. I don't even quite know what to say.
Someone please write a fan fic about that!
* "Foom" is my own term for fluffy hair. It came as a result of my 7th grade typing teacher, Mrs. Houschaur (pronounced how-shower). The woman was possibly stuck in a time loop, or just her sense of fashion. She dressed like it was perpetually 1967 and she rocked a killer beehive. The heights her hair managed to achieve have never been met to this day. I'm not sure how many cans of Aquanet or lacquer she used on a daily basis, but her hairdo earned her the moniker "Hightower Houschaur." My friend and I decided there was no way her hair could be natural and that she must have to inflate it every morning. We thought there was a little valve in her hair somewhere and she attached a bicycle pump to her hair and pumped it up. Her hair went, "FOOM!" and sprang into place once inflated. This earned her a quieter nickname of "The Foom" and ever since then, I've associated "foom" with fluffy hair.
