Yesterday started badly with the computer monitor giving up on us...so $300 later we have a nice new LCD screen which is larger and much better than the old monitor. Today is Jacques birthday so I got up early and made French toast with bacon and freshly squeezed orange juice.Carine and her partner Nick will be coming down from Auckland and staying over the weekend. we are all out for a family birthday dinner tonight in a restaurant.

Tomorrow will be hectic as Jacques, Tineke and I leave for overseas. Tineke is going to study at Edinburgh for her masters in operations research for one year. Jacques will be away 2 months attending many conferences in Europe. I am going for 3 weeks. We first go to Shanghai, China, then travel to Frankfurt, Germany where our niece lives. Then we travel to Renswoude, Holland where we have a caravan parked in an orchard on a friends farm. The caravan is hooked up with shower/toilet etc and my ILs had the caravan towed there in 1978..so it is getting old but still keeps us dry when we need accommodation which is yearly for my husband.Next stop is visiting friends in Belgium, then on to Paris where my other niece lives. Jacques has a conference there so Tineke and I can do some sightseeing as it is 22 years since we were both there..(she was a toddler). Then we fly to Edinburgh in time for some of the festival. We say bye to Tineke and return to Holland. The next day I travel back to NZ via HongKong.

Martin will be looking after Suki our cat with a friend Marcus coming in to look after everything for us. Martin cannot travel with us this time as it is not school holidays and he has important exams this year. Mia our dog will be going to the kennel.

It has been a busy last few days with filling the freezer with baking and meals, and last minute shopping for gifts for overseas etc Today I have to make the birthday cake for tonight and pack!We have a lovely sunny day today so I hope it stays that way tomorrow so I can strip the beds and towels and get everything clean and dry before the shuttle picks us up tomorrow night.
