mmw...you make me laugh
Sitting at the grove cafe has to be my favorite thing to do. Of course the coffee is great. The environment is great. But it is always the random shit we decide to talk about while we are there that make it worth while. Today, we had some humorous realizations. Well, i wouldnt really call them realizations because that could imply that we had become enlightened about something intelligent...something that we might want to share with others so they could take part in our brilliant discovery. This would be far from intelligent. First of all we decided that all the cultures we have studied thus far in our MMW class are absurd. While our professors have tried to expand our minds and make us open to all the cultures around the world the opposite has happened....now we just make fun of them. and the religious leaders and spiritual authority of these cultures and civilizations are the most hilarious and insane of them all. the shit they come up with is amazing. Just look at the Azteks and their priests who would mat their hair with blood and sharpen the teeth while sacrificing humans by gutting them. Or the Soothsayers in China. One of these soothsayers predicted that a newborn would have a prosperous, healthy life. When the boy died in two days the soothsayer blamed his death on a dead nurse and so the mother killed the dead nurse's children and when the husband found out of her cruel ways killed those who killed the dead nurse's children and then killed the wife for having them killed. The Netsilik and their shamans, the Arapesh and their yams...they're all crazy. We decided that we're not ethnocentric either because we think our culture is crazy as well. This is a pointless entry...now i feel like a jerk. I blame it on the coffee and the fog.
