LJ I think is having trouble again each time I want to link in with other LJ users. The begginning of my post disappeared again!
I wanted to say I was excited to have lilbitterbug (another LJ user, who hosted me and Ian in San Francisco) visiting from the US in April because my friend Anne-Sophie stayed at my place a couple of days and felt good here. It is quite relieving because I was nervous making people ill-at-ease with all my obsessions and 'rituals' as Nathalie calls them (and I think she's rigth).I'm getting better at letting people step into my life again, with the impact it has on my own rhythm, which has been centered on food for so long...
Anne-Sophie came back in the middle of the night from Nantes because her train got stucked with the snow. We've been through a massive period of cold and bad weather conditions, which was not so awful, but rather unusual so spectacular and we're not prepared for it so each time it happens the authorities are just unable to react and everything stops here. Anyway.
So this morning when I was in class, we had the first sunbeam in days, and I felt refresed. My new classes are interesting and so are the teachers. And the paper or presentation they want from us will be related to our own research project which is half the grade for the secind semester. Sounds good.
I came across the teacher in charge of the class for which I did the Moreau paper and had a talk with him about the grade and what he had said about my writing style and lack of methodology. I felt relieved knowing I had somehow misinerpreted his e-mail.
Finally, I went to see No one knows about The Persian Cats (I think it's how it's untitled in English) which is a fiction documentary about underground music in Iran, and how this band is dreaming about getting passports and authorization from the Islamic government to get out the country and tour in Europe. Though they decided to deliver a pessimistic vision of the situation, I think they managed to do it and are now in London. The film is anyway a real lesson on making music and its meaning for some people nowadays. It was very hopeful, in a way. ANd the music (not only this band's one, but also the other bands in the film) was good. It reminded me of Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi, because it shows exactly the conditions in which people who want to have fun in Iran are made to hide and act in secret. And absolutely EVERYONE in this film is attractive. I mean they are all cute. No shit. I went with my cousin and it was one of the first remark we made to each other afterwards.
I am going to the theatre tomorrow to see a modern version of Merlin with Nathalie. And need to wash up now, before I go back to reading Salambo, by Flaubert.
