Christmas in Utero

Dec 25, 2010 06:02

Dear Dexter,

Celebrating Christmas while 32+ weeks pregnant is jolly good fun, and for the first time in a long time, I actually feel very at peace. It is all thanks to you and your constant movements and loving prods.

I hope you don’t mind that your dad and I are cat-sitting, and therefore my belly has become a sort of trampoline the last couple of days. This is because Muse (my beloved Moggy) can feel your little heartbeat and all your pokes, and she has decided to spend as much time as possible laying on my bump. I can tell she is fond of you, as is her skittish sister, Gypsy. Both of them have been particularly affectionate to me lately, and I know it is because they sense you inside of me and want to be close.

I hope you are enjoying all the rich food and mince pies I’ve been shoving down my gob. Your taste buds must be tingling at all the new flavours lately!  I also hope you don’t mind that instead of a traditional turkey dinner, your dad and I are having leftover pizza tonight. I’m sure you can cope. I’ve been feeding you pepperoni for 8 months now! No complains so far!

I hope that your uterine Christmas is a cozy one, and that you are able to soak in some of the peace of the holiday and the joy we’ve all been feeling.

Soon it will be a new year, and then you’ll be here with us.

Next Christmas, I can’t promise you mince pies or eggnog lattes, as I think you’ll be too little… but I can promise you a happy holiday with all the joy of the season. There will be lights and presents and family and love all around.

Merry Christmas, my little miracle baby.

Forever your loving mother,

Bubby
