But of course, my update is late ... nothing new there, then !
Headed out to Batfink on Friday night, which was as enjoyable as ever and in fact, even more so on the shear quantities of my friends who were there ! I brought along two of my LARP comrades, first time Finkers Andy and Debs ... Andy, you may have noticed, pulled ;) Batfink being followed by beer & Spaced videos with Debs, Kate & Brian until gods-only-know-when-o'clock ( that's what it says on my watch ! really and truly ! )
Then it was the Hadfield St Party on Saturday night ... one of the big ol places at the bottom of the road invited everybody. It was quite enjoyable burbling at a whole variety of people I'd not previously met - it can be thrilling to be in new social situations. And a couple of the students from a few doors down had made the world's most evil vodka Chili. My tongue still isn't set straight.
Followed by The Classic Rock Bar ( still open !?!? ) for Chris n' Sue's new band "Silver Wheel" - who were, naturaly, folk-rock. They did a fine cover of Matty Groves.
I've been talking to Chris about an instrument I inherited from my parent's Nigerian adventures ... a gord with a bit of wood sticking out of it, and two strings. It has me baffled, but Chris informs me that he's seen one played, and that you thread a bow between the two strings so it plays one on the push and one on the pull stroke. Coo. I still can't imagine how you'd make _music_ with it, though !
