Where I was, Where I wasn't

Last Sunday Joey McIntyre (yes, the New Kid on the Block) was at Guy's and the band played an awesome set capped off with an a capella version of Joe Firstman's "Surprise," so I heard. I spent my Sunday watching funny little Scottish boys dance to "Electronic Renaissance" and "Piazza New York Catcher" from the front row of the balcony at the Wiltern LG. It's so nice hearing Scottish people talk, they sound like they are so aware of being heard that they put little flowers on their syllables simply for the enjoyment of the listener. The dance moves are something else. Stuart looked like a ten-year-old boy dancing in his room after a really good day at school. Stevie did the robot, kind of. It was like watching a mummy do the robot; in other words, it was amazingly cute.

On the way home I noticed that my dashboard lights all of a sudden got really dim. Then the battery light came on. I turned all my shit off and hoped to make it to the next exit. Have you ever driven at night on the freeway with your lights off? It's some freaky shit, man. Anyway, I got to the next exit, luckily there was a Chevron right next to it, and my car crapped out just as I pulled into a parking spot. A nice man (especially nice if you consider that it was 1 AM) taught me how to jump start a car and we were off. I dropped Jessica off and about a mile from my house the battery light came on again. This time the car lasted right until I pulled into my driveway. It was kind of awesome in a shitty way.

So, now, $250 and a new alternator later, I'm wondering what I would have done if I'd gone to Guy's and spoken to Joey McIntyre. "Hey dude, I totally used to have your board game." I did, you know; I think the goal was to make it to a NKOTB concert. Chance cards would say things along the lines of "Jordan's favorite color is blue. Move up two spaces," and "Your friends find out that you have a crush on Donnie, the ugly one. Move back one space." But I never played it though, only my sisters did, I swear.
