OH.
MY.
GOD.
I just had one of the best days of my life. I’m not even kidding.
And I am going to outline every detail here for you kids.
This morning, I went into town with Andrea because she needed to get her hair cut. It was so much fun… the salon was so cute and they had two dogs that were absolutely adorable. Oh my goodness. They had this five-month-old boxer with huge paws that was absolutely to die for. It was pouring all morning, and we were really worried about Lutefest, but we went to Blue Mondays and it cleared up while we were sipping our coffee and eating bruch, so that was pretty awesome. After that, we made a Target run (partly for the tie-dyeing at Lutefest), where I picked up a really cute sweater thing, some gum, and re-stocked my fruit snack supply. It was such a fun Target trip, I don’t specifically know why, but it was. After that, we drove back to campus, and the weather had totally cleared up, which was very very exciting.
After showering, we headed over to the festivities. I tie-dyed two shirts, then Andrea and I got some sno-cones and met up with Liz, after which we painted some flower pots for the kids in the hospital, and that was so much fun, because we all know how much I love arts and crafts. :) Liz headed back to Kildahl :( and Andrea and I got some cotton candy and went outside to the “Live Peting Zoo” followed by Bobby. Oh my goodness, the Petting Zoo was awesome, even though it didn’t include many animals. My favorites were the lamb and the tiny pig. Holy crap, that pig was hilarious… every time someone tried to pick him up, he squealed and squealed and squealed, but once you started cuddling with him, he loved it. There were also some really soft bunnies and some ducks (one of which definitely bit Andrea) and also a miniature pony (not even kidding) and a llama. So random. So awesome.
We went back to Kildahl and talked with the girls for a while, then Liz and Andrea and I constructed the most genius plastic sheeting thing ever to guard my lovely quilt (a.k.a. my soul, objectified) from getting stained and dirty, then we three went to dinner in the caf. After eating, we went outside to find a good spot to put down the quilt, and we ended up getting pretty close, which was awesome. So we hung out there for a while, collecting friends to come sit with us as they walked by.
Then… Nickel Creek came out. HOLY SHIT. It was *such* a good concert, and we had *such* a good time. I am exhausted right now because we danced the entire time. Oh my goodness, it was a great performance, the weather was incredible (it was completely clear and sunny and during sunset… the rain we were supposed to have is actually starting right now… genius), I love all my girls, and *sigh*… it was just… the best thing ever. We had so much fun just dancing and stuff. Laurel kept wanting to dance like an Irish River Dance dancer, which was so so funny, and then the bass player STARTED DANCING IT and we just went crazy. Oh gaaaaaaaaawsh, it was incredible. I got a piggy-back ride from Andrea during one of the encore songs to make me taller (and able to see everything on stage), which was so funny because of the looks we got. We got so tired because we seriously just danced the whole time. ALL of us went crazy when they played an extra-long version of “The Fox” at the end of the concert.
After they stopped playing, we sat around in the dark on the blanket for a while, but eventually it was just me and Andrea, which was nice, but then it got cold, so we came back to Kildahl. Met up with LiZ, then Andrea and I had a shower party blasting the radio in the bathroom, and talked to some of the corridor girls for a while, then we (Andrea, Liz, Laurel, and I… at times accompanied by some others: Michelle, Katie, Elyse) watched a coupla episodes of Sex and the City and ate junk food. Now I’m back here, and I am getting ready for some sleep ‘cause I am absolutely exhausted.
What a good day, honestly. I will never ever forget it.
I <3 this place.
p.s. You should all go look at the pictures o' Lutefest (
