I'm coming over here to thank you for posting up that NPR top 30 songs of 2009 last year in ontd_twatlight. I'm not sure if you're still a member of the community still, or I'd try to catch you in a comment there.
Anyway, I found other NPR listener picks lists for the years 2002 through 2008 and am currently zipping them. On the top 25 songs from 2008 right now. If you want me to send those over when I'm done, let me know or drop a line in my journal. I feel like I owe you because this music is beyond description. I mean really, really beyond.
thanks for reaching out to me! i would absolutely love to get those zips from you. i am still a member of ontd_twatlight so if you're posting them on there, will you let me know? thanks a ton!
Nah- posting them on my journal mostly. But I'll be sure to remember you. Here's the top 25 of 2008. And hey- maybe we'll see each other on the All Songs Considered music blog? I'll be there to vote on this year's list.
I'm going to nominate two songs featured on the "top albums of the year" show (which is available for download; tell me if you don't have links). "Rill Rill" by Sleigh Bells and "Do the Astral Plane" by Flying Lotus.
awesome. thanks a ton, looking forward to checking out those lists.
i would also love links to the top albums if you have them. i actually lost a lot of music recently and a lot of them have been on my list to download but i've just been getting them individually from filestube or wherever else.
i love "rill rill," good call! haven't heard the one by flying lotus but i'll check it out. anyway, thanks again for the great music! really appreciate it.
The top albums are here. You can download the episode for free- that's where I heard Flying Lotus and Rill Rill.
Here's - you can follow the links back and back for the top songs of 2007 and 2006 and so forth. I'm a little skeptical, but only because I feel like nothing could be as good as the 2009 songs. They were something else.
You loved Rill Rill? Oh man... you have got to give me your recs for songs if you ever get them. 'Cause I'm just all about that song right now. ... Or so I was until I heard that one song from the 2008 collection. Now I can't stop listening to "White Winter Hymnal".
But there will be much "blah blah" about the 2009 collection on my journal when I make that post, so I'll STFU for now, except to say that I'll be uploading the 2009 zip on my own server, so don't worry. (Also, will credit you since you found all of those songs)
