Well, no one really gave me any ideas, so for about an hour, I was about to just say, "The hell with it." So I threw myself on the couch, and started channel surfing. Since I didn't have the daily paper on the table today, I just took a brief look at CNN and Fox News, and from what was on at the moment, I got my inspiration. Some crazy crap was happening in Toledo, Ohio (Off-topic: Why the hell is there always moronic antics/people in Ohio?). There was supposed to be a Neo-Nazi march in the northern part of the city in regards to "black crime". They were saying that black gangs were harassing white people. Keep in mind that in order to have a protest of that sort, permits are required; the Nazis got them, so basically, it was perfectly legal for them to do what they were doing. When they marched today, the people of Toledo just swarmed the streets and beat the living daylights out of them. They threw bottles, glass, garbage, anything that was pretty much in the vicinity, and just scattered the marchers. Then when the police arrived, they attacked the frickin' police. The mayor had to call a state of emergency for the city and instate a curfew. I'll give you guys the link to the article on CNN's website. It has a little video with about 5:30 minutes of coverage there, too. It's amazing what happened there.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/25/neo.nazi.rally/index.html Now, before I get into the main question, let me ask one regarding this whole scenario. What do you think about it?
Alright, what this inspired me to think and post about is the level of rights and freedom that the country grants to citizens. Do you think that it gives too much, and that is should limit some of what it gives? Or do you think that the level we have right now is just?
The problem with this question is that there's alot that has to be analyzed. There's the right of assembly that's called into question (this is part of the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights), and then the actions of the "Toledoans". Then there's the moral issue that some will come up with of allowing such a party as the Nazis, or the Neo-Nazis, to even be allowed to march.
I won't go in depth by explaining the example. Click the link to the article and read from CNN, because CNN without a doubt explains things better than me. I'll post my view after others post.
