Wise master Ten-chi was known to take long walks around the gardens of his abbey. Once, on his third revolution, he came across one of his junior disciples neglecting his pruning duties and, instead, dozing off in the corner. The master grabbed the lazy student by the wrist and remarked, "only the most vile of predators would eat a bird of broken wing."
