Road Trippin'

So I'm back from California (duh) and it was a nice, relaxing trip. I wish I had more pictures, but since I had to take a real camera, I won't have any more until I get those developed and scanned.
Thursday: Heather and I left at like 5:30am and drove non-stop until we reached Corning, CA where we went to The Olive Pit to stretch our legs and taste olives. Check out the huge can of black olives they had there.

Seriously, who needs that many olives?! Haha.
Heather bought a shitload of olives, but I'm not a huge fan of them so I didn't buy any. But it was fun tasting them! Then we headed down the road to this casino and spent a good hour there gambling. I am SOOO not a gambler but I only spent $10 there and had a great time.
We finally arrived in Modesto around 4:30pm and just visited with Heather's sorta boyfriend's (backstory: her sorta boyfriend is being sent to Iraq, so Heather was going there to visit his mom and stepdad for support in this sad time. I went along so she didn't have to drive all the way there alone) parents. They are really nice people and they have three cute doggies. I was exhausted so I went to bed pretty early that night.

Friday:Heather's bf's mom made us the BEST breakfast. Being that I've been on a diet since January, it was amazing to have pancakes and bacon for breakfast. We hung out there for a while and then went to buy fireworks. It was insanely hot out that day, so that wasn't so fun. But we DID go to In and Out for lunch. That was so exciting! I'd never been there before so this was a must while in Cali. It was pretty good! Heather got a pic of me and the dudes working the drive-thru but that one will have to wait until she emails them to me.

When we got back, we got right into the pool. That was awesome. They have a slide and loungers and it was relaxing and refreshing. LOL I hadn't been swimming in over a year!

Saturday (the 4th): We woke up and Linda was already making food for the big day. She makes her OWN baked beans. Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE baked beans, so this was a treat for dorky little me. Most of the day was spent outside just chillin by and in the pool. Heather's bf's brother and his wife and baby came over too. They are our age, so that was nice to have someone our age to hang out with. We ate some awesome food for dinner, shot off fireworks (the big cool ones) and then went inside, drank champagne and played Apples to Apples. That game is SO much fun! Heather kicked all our asses.

Sunday: pretty uneventful and boring. I got a good tan, though!

Monday: We left at around 5:30am. I was sooo ready to go home and sleep in my own bed. We stopped at the casino in Corning again. LOL it's just too fun! Gosh, I could never go to Vegas, I'd be broke! We were going to change highways so that we could go through the Redwood forest, but there was construction going on which would have made our trip longer than we wanted. But Heather and I are going to make a point to take a day trip to the Redwoods sometime this summer. On our way home, we stopped at Shasta Lake to take pictures. Too bad the part of the lake we stopped at was kinda dry. It's a gorgeous lake, though. We also stopped in Weed, CA and I bought an I Love Weed, CA coffee mug. Hahaha. I kept saying things like "They bake their own bread...IN WEED!" and "They sell the movie Scent of a Woman...IN WEED!" Yes, I'm a huge dork.

Once we were in back Oregon, we were going to go to places in Oregon we've always wanted to go. So we tried to go to The House of Mystery, but neither of us wanted to pay $9 to take a 45 minute tour since we were both kinda tired at this point. Then we tried to go to this hands-on science museum but they were closed on Mondays. Figures! Then we were going to go to Crater Lake, but it was another two hours out of our way. So we gave up on that. But we did stop at another casino before we went home. That place sorta sucked because we didn't win anything. The machines just weren't as easy to win on as they were in California.
When we finally got home, I was starving and exhausted. I was so glad to sleep in my own bed and watch my own tv on my own couch. It was a great trip all and all.
