The Quest For Gen!Fic
Some fandoms have the most awesome gen!fic - SGA being one of them. There are also the fandoms that have great fic, just not a lot of gen stuff - like SPN. Then there are the fandoms that don't seems to have any good fic. And then there are the fandoms where you have to look very, very hard to find coherent fic.
And I'm not talking about ff.net. I mean, shows have plots for a reason (even Torchwood has them), but in fanfic, no one ever seems to be doing their job (i.e. investigate cases, find missing persons, fight aliens, etc.). Kind of makes you glad that the Doctor doesn't have a day-job...or a lot of the stuff on whofic would be even further out of character ;-)
On top of it all I just read a Doctor Who / The Bill x-over. Ouch. That makes my whacky SPN / Wire in the Blood x-over seem like straight off the screen ;-)
