#01 [action/phone]

[The strange-looking object sitting on the table has been making noise for the some time now. Not at all knowing what it is or why it is doing this, the woman it just awakened minutes ago is staring intently, unsure of what to do about it. The device stops momentarily when she picks it up, but begins again moments later when she places it back down

If you're going to pick up, you could at least say something. [ His tone is polite, although the words are probably harsher than he intended. ]

[Apollo might hear the handset being picked back up off the table. Tlachtga had just barely heard his words, but given she's already heard a brief explanation of what the phone is and what it does, she now realizes that she was inadvertently ignoring someone who may have been trying to talk to either Kay or Theo.]

I apologize... I am rather new to this place, and to this...[What had Kay called it?]...telephone.

(I guess she must be one of those people not from Earth?) No problem, it's fine.

... Has somebody taught you how to use it yet?

Internet. Quit choking on me.

[hexbell]

[She's from Earth, alright. Except from about a thousand years after the end of the world as everybody knew it. Technology from ages ago is going to be understandably-foreign to her.]

Kay has given me a brief explanation...

In the future, I would suggest not picking up and hanging up so many times. People will think you're prank calling them or something.

... So, I take it you're new to Mayfield?

[hexbell]

[There is a small but noticeable silence before she responds.]

Yes, I am...

[perceivance]

I'm fairly new, myself. I've only been here two days. [ A pause. ] You'd probably be better off asking somebody who's been here longer, but if you have any questions about Mayfield, I'll try my best to answer.

[hexbell]

I think I will be alright with what I have been told thus far...but thank you for the offer...

[perceivance]

No problem. It's a lot to take in at once, I know.

... I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? My name's Apollo Justice.

[hexbell]

[Her response is not delayed this time, but instead a little slow, most likely an attempt to make it easier for him to catch the pronunciation.] Mine is Tlachtga...

[perceivance]

[ He repeats it back, equally slowly, managing to pronounce it more or less correctly. ] Tlachtga... that's a pretty unique name.

... Where are you from? (Wherever it is, it's probably not America... this must be all the more scary for her to go through.)

[hexbell]

[Scary? No, not really, not yet. Awkward? Certainly. Interesting? Maybe a little. There were things here she's never seen before, like this telephone thing.]

It is...a small town called Etria. Quite busy, despite its size... [Theo hadn't heard of it, so she'll doubt Apollo has either.]

[perceivance]

Etria... I take it that's not in America?

[hexbell]

I have never heard of such a place, so I would doubt it...

[perceivance]

I see. [ a pause. ] Is where you're from much like Mayfield?

[hexbell]

It is...too early to say. Perhaps I would have an answer to this in a few days' time...
