so, first refer to
this journal entry where i say the following:
ok get this bullshit. the other day i was driving in the general area of the pentagon and i see a gas station that i like to patronize - ok its citgo, they buy their gas from venezuela so i fill up there when i can. anyways, i roll up, swipe my card, not rilly noticing that this particular station is a fucking hornets nest of police activity. this attendant then comes over and informs me that i cannot fill up at this station without a military id. fucking military only. no sign. just supposed to intuit this from the MASSIVE AMOUNT OF GODDAMN FEDS IN THE VICINITY. so i'm about to bid this place fucking adieu, when tappy tap on my windshield is a pentagon cop. etc.
you know how you'll be aware of two things, but for whatever reason you dont really put them together? it occured to me today how insanely contradictory it is that there is a citgo station that is exclusively patronized by the pentagon. earlier i stated that Citgo "buys" its petroleum from Venezuela. well i've since learned that Citgo is wholly owned by Petróleos de Venezuela, which is in turn wholly owned by the state of Venezuela (its true,
check it out). with the administration bad-mouthing Venzuela every chance they get, and with major media outlets like the wall street journal and the washington post demonizing Hugo Chávez in their pages, you can see why i find it odd that the pentagon and various other DC area police pump a shit ton of revenue directly into Citgo.
its no secret that washington hates Chávez. if anything you'd think the pentagon would *avoid* Citgo. what do i care though, if our retarded ass administration wants to generate revenue for a leader who actually tells his people the truth and looks out for their interests, then i guess i can get behind that.
