Yes, but she's not a proper dog. The first time I saw her, she had grown herself wings. I thought I was hallucinating, which would not have been surprising given the circumstances.

A free magic being left over from the Beginning, from what I can understand. I don't know the details. I'm a bit new to the concept of magic in general, so I am afraid my knowledge is quite limited.

I am desperately curious about how exactly magic works in your world -- it's completely different from mine. Are there parts of your world where there isn't magic?

Magic doesn't work anywhere but in the Old Kingdom. I am from Ancelstierre, south of the Kingdom. It works a few miles south of the Wall, but not much. Here, 200 miles south of the Wall, nothing magic will work at all. I wouldn't be able to feel it even if the wind were blowing particularly hard from the north.
