Well, there are many reasons to be awake when one ought to be asleep. Have you had trouble with dreams? Portents perhaps? Or eaten a bad bit of cheese?

No, not anything out of the ordinary. I just can't seem to make myself put my computer down and actually go to sleep.

Oh of course I do. This, however, means absolutely nothing to my subconscious, which is insisting that I need to stay awake.

Then tell your subconscious to... I believe the phrase is 'sod off'? - turn off your computer, take a calming draught (lavender and catnip with a touch of velarian work WONDERS) and Go To Sleep.
