*knocks on the door, glancing around the corridor before he opens it - slipping inside Lucius's office, newspaper in hand*

*catches Lucius as he stands from his desk, kissing him warmly -dropping the paper as he wraps his arms around the man, pages scattering on the floor*
I read it in the paper this morning. How did you ever keep it a secret? I'm so impressed with you, Lucius.

*earnestly*
You'll make the most wonderful Minister.

=Lucius grins, ear-to-ear, regaining his balance after the young man launces himself at him.= You did, did you? Did they give me a nice write-up? =Kisses the boy, uncoiling one arm to push the door closed, dragging Rabastan into the room=

I can keep some secrets, you know. Besides, I wasn't sure what you'd make of it.

I've not quite won yet, Rabastan.

A wonderful write-up, you come off exceptionally well. *kisses him again, grinning just as widely*

Why? Did you think I'd be angry?

*fervently*
But you will. I'll make sure you will.

=If possible, his grin widens and he leads Rabastan back towards the big, comfortable sofa pushed up against the wood-panelled wall.= It wasn't too gushing or over the top, was it? I haven't had the chance to read it yet. I've been flooded with owls. I could do with a hand, in fact...

Not angry. But I thought you would... be upset I didn't ask for your help. You were already busy, and I didn't want to distract you.

=He laughs= And you'll help me, won't you? When I get into office? And you'll come to the campaign launch party tonight?

*settles down on the sofa, smiling* Rather a little pro-you, I must admit, but not too sickly. What would would you like me to do?

*frowns*
Well, I am a little. You normally do.

Of course I'll help you, Lucius. I always do don't I. And yes, I'll be there.

As long as it wasn't a gushing, over-the-top portrayal then I suppose I shall manage. =smiles slightly= Would you like a celebratory drink?

Well, forgive me, Rabastan. But you know now. And clearly it was a nice surprise.

I need a press officer, and... an advisor. And there is no one else I really trust more than you. And you understand what this is all about, don't you? It's not just an chance to get into power, Rabastan. I'm serious about all of this.

It was very much in favour of you, Lucius. *smiles back* I wouldn't mind. After all, it is a celebration.

A very nice surprise, yes.

*a little shocked*
You want to make me an advisor? I mean Lucius. I'm twenty years old. Don't you think that's a little young? I mean, of course I'll help you whenever you need.

*meets his eye*
I do understand. And that's why I'm so proud of you. With due political process as well as militarism, Lucius. I've always said that. And you're just the right man for the job.

*considers him for a moment*
Lucius, what are we going to do about us? If anyone was to start digging into your background I'm going to feature regularly and there are enough rumors around to begin with. If someone was to get a hold of your cheque book…

=Gets up and pours the boy a drink in a tall glass= I'm strictly not meant to have this here, of course...

Not offically, Rabastan. Although I would if I could. But you're a smart young man and you know people, and you need to get your own career in gear. After all, you're more than suitable for a post as minister yourself. More so than I am. You're far too smart to remain as someone's under-secretary. You don't want to be doing that forever, do you?

We should have tried politics first, but... well. Hopefully I have fair chance. =smiles=

=Pales slightly= Rabastan... what exactly are you suggesting?

*takes the drink from Lucius with a smile* I won't tell a soul.

*smiles warmly at Lucius's praise*
No, I don't want to stay an under-secretary forever. I would quite like to reach a point where I can be a gentleman of leisure with a library full of rare books, but until then I'd settle for becoming head of international relations.

*softly*
You shouldn't speak badly about our Lords policies. He does what he thinks is best at the time. However, I will agree that some may have taken it too far.

*laughs softly*
Not that I leave you! Honestly, Lucius. I love you. I'm simply advocating we practice restraint.

Good boy. =pours himself one too, taking a swallow before sitting back down next to Rabastan=

You could settle into the life of a gentleman of leisure already, if you wanted. But you might find it a little dull while you are still so young. =smiles slightly= Head of International Relations? And why are you aiming for that position, specifically?

I'm not speaking badly of them. But it isn't hard to tell that our Lord isn't a politican. And yes, it has been taken too far. It would have been easier to do things slowly and quietly and politically before enacting a military movement...

=Grins widely, fingers moving to stroke through the boy's hair= Restraint, eh?

I think so. There are still too many things I want to do. *shrugs* I could travel, eat good food, meet interesting people. *a slow smile* Interesting men. And prevent international wars when your mouth has run away with you.

*nods, taking a sip of his wine*

*blushes slightly* Yes, restraint. It would be a scandal, Lucius, a very big one and you would have to withdraw - and you'd take my reputation and Narcissa's down with you.

Interesting men, Rabastan? What sort of interesting do you mean?
=shocked= Rabastan! I do not cause wars.

I liked it better before you elaborated. =sighs= So you want it all toned down? Swept under the rug? We can manage that. Although I suppose that means when I'm elected I can't turn to you on the podium and kiss you? =teasing smirk=

*strokes his hand, laughing softly*
I'm only teasing you, Lucius. I promise.

*raises an eyebrow*
No, of course not.

*purses his lips* Lucius...

I'm never too sure about you, Rabastan. Sometimes I think you're far too cheeky for your own good...

When was the last internation war I caused? And that trouble in the Hotel doesn't count.

I was joking, Rabastan. =slumps a little, fingers moving to smooth his hair, running from his forehead to the knot keeping his hair back from his face= But it... it sounds like a wise idea...

*kisses his cheek*
I only do it to upset you and make you jealous.

*raises an eyebrow but says nothing and only takes another sip of his drink*

*sighs softly*
Lucius, you know I'm right. I'm not saying we stop it all together just that you spend more time with Narcissa, and we'll go back to the old code like when I was on missions. You used to enjoy sneaking around then.

You are a cruel, cruel young man, Rabastan.

It really isn't something a candidate must be seen to do though, is it? Sneak around. But I think... I think we could manage, just for the duration on the elections. After that, of course it won't matter...
