Did it make you happier?

Did it make me happier that my son betrayed himself and family? That he left me without a backward glance? No, boy, it did not.

That's not what I asked and we both know it.

He was probably the brightest hope for your bloodline's future, and he saw the old ways were outdated and falling in on themselves. You threw him away long before he left by trying to crush that.

*chuckles, dry and harsh*

He wanted nothing to do with any of us. He was tainted, spoiled, he had no respect. If there'd been some spark in him of love for his family, I would have nurtured it, but he was dead and cold.

You call him tainted and spoiled and yet you accuse him of having no respect? Listen to yourself!

He was still a child when he left. Still a hateful child only too ready to discard those who loved him. I have no respect for that, no.

*headdesk* Who knew Rookwood had such strong feelings about it? >.>

Harry was about to tell Rookwood to stay out of it ;)

He was a smart child who finally figured out what love really was because he found friends who accepted him and loved him no matter what he did. Your love was conditional. Obviously.

What do you know of a mother's love, filth?

*laughs*

I know that a mother's love can protect you your whole life, even from beyond the grave.

*strokes his cheek with a poisonous little smile*

It isn't quite the same though, boy, is it?

*raises a brow at her*

Maybe I should ask you what you know of a mother's love. I have my mother's love coursing through my veins, through my entire being and I don't doubt that she loves me even for a second. Did you ever feel that?

*pats his cheek and laughs throatily*

I never needed to. I have something better in my veins.

Ice water is not a substitute for blood.

I know more about blood than you ever will.

*eyes her memory*

And it seems to have brought you such joy.
