Name: Bellatrix Lestrange
Format: Azkaban Incident Report
Date: 25.06.95
Relevance: Account of Bellatrix' behaviour in Azkaban the night of the Dark Lord's resurrection.
On the night of the 24th of June, at approximately 10 o'clock in the evening, Prisoner Bellatrix Lestrange (henceforth known as the prisoner) began calling to the wardens for attention. The prisoner having been silent for the last two years, we were naturally curious.
When we approached her cell, the prisoner said that she needed to leave now, and asked us to open the cell door. Warden Gillet told her to shut asked her to be quiet. The prisoner replied that if we opened the cell door now, she promised not to kill any of us.
Warden Gillet then broke Regulation Number 56f and approached the bars of her cell (see Disciplinary Report 22:Gillet,A). The prisoner asked him to please let her out of her cell. Warden Gillet refused, at which point the prisoner put her hands through the bars and removed Warden Gillet's eye from its socket with her thumb (see accompanying Healer's Report and Transfer Request). Wardens Galloway, Firnberg and myself attempted to release Warden Gillet from the prisoner's grip, while Warden Collins summoned the Dementors.
When the Dementors arrived (six whole minutes later, see my report to the Department in Charge of Dementor Management), they seemed reluctant to enter the prisoner's cell and she repeatedly urged them to "save their appetites for the feasting to come." On the fourth command from Warden Galloway, the Dementors entered the prisoner's cell and subdued her.
When she awoke this morning, the prisoner seemed in good spirits, asked when breakfast would be served and enquired as to the whereabouts of Warden Gillet.
