Remember that crackplot? Yeah, Finrod is still 'Fred.' Fred has, at least, managed to get his hands on some bandages, a crutch, and maybe a bottle of painkillers, so he's now able to hobble around under his own power without too much pain. He probably shouldn't be walking on it at all, but he's stubborn and he wanted another look at the mansion library. Now he's parked himself at one of the tables, backpack kicked under a nearby chair (and just out of sight, so he'll never remeber where it's gone), and his legs propped up on the chair across from him to support his twisted ankle. He wouldn't mind company.
