Finrod....is not a zombie. Surprisingly. Possibly very surprisingly considering his typist. But in any case, he is once more 100% alive, breathing and everything, and is near to the spot where he died. He's not sure why he's there, he remembers losing his sword in a wolf during the fight and possibly he means to see if it's still there. In any ( Read more... )

Edrahil is mildly fixated and has been spending a fair amount of time out here, restless indoors. (He appears to have avoided the zombie invasion: more power to him.) So as it turns out he's already there, a solitary figure at the base of the tree, standing with his hands clasped behind him and looking generally discontent. Not yet looking, however, in Finrod's general direction.

He sees Edrahil and stops a short way off, just watching him for a few moments, reflecting on what happened and on the conversation he had with his brother shortly before the incident before calling his name, softly but just loud enough to carry. "Edrahil."

He turns sharply, eyes widening as he realizes who it is, hardly believing it. "Finrod-? You--" He would sort of like to run to him, but the more practical course is reaching out to lean a little on the trunk of the tree for just a moment.

He smiles a bit and nods. "I know." He shrugs. "I came back." He certainly wouldn't mind Edrahil running to him, he's resisting running over to Edrahil as well.

A bit weakly: "I see that." And it's not a run, he's too restrained for that, but he does start towards him at a quicker pace than is quite normal.

When Edrahil moves Finrod does as well, meeting him around halfway. He really ought to hug Edrahil at this point, but he hesitates. "I wouldn't have expected you to be out here." He either knows or has a very good idea of who found him, don't ask how. There are also probably signs that he didn't take getting killed by wolves again very well.

"I happened to come by." Which is true of that first time, but not of subsequent visits. He touches Finrod's shoulder with some hesitation, possibly to reassure himself that he's really there, looking him over for various signs of damage. "Are you alright?"

"I'm alright." And he is, except for the lingering issues over getting gnawed on by a wolf again. And what's a Finwean without a few issues, right? He covers Edrahil's hand on his shoulder with his own and squeezes reassuringly.

"Good." He turns his hand in Finrod's and squeezes back. Were it up to him, Finrod would be fully Issue-free, Finwëan or no, but unfortunately he lacks the power to change the nature of the universe. And softly, quietly: "Don't do it again?"

Finrod wouldn't exactly mind that himself. A larger smile than before crosses his face and he squeezes Edrahil's hand again. "I'll do my best." He'd love to be able to promise that...but.

Edrahil doesn't even know that it's the second -- third -- time, does he? He gives him a wry smile, still a bit shaken despite the relief. "I'm glad you're back." Welcome to the Understatement that Ate Nargothrond.

Third, possibly? There was the first time in canon, that time when Sauron turned into a wolf and bit his face off....that might be all? But Edrahil probably only knows about the dungeon and now. "I'm glad to be back." He smiles again, this time it actually stays, and grips Edrahil's shoulder with his free hand. Almost but not quite entirely unlike a hug.

Yes, that. Finrod never did tell him about the Sauron thing. He's grateful for the squeeze, though. "I-- missed you, my friend." And he wraps one arm around Finrod's shoulder, pulling him closer in something much more like to an actual hug.

Finrod, while slightly surprised, wraps his arm around Edrahil in response and holds tightly. He closes his eyes very briefly, just savoring being alive again and having Edrahil close. "I am sorry that I worried you." He'd say something like 'I missed you too' but he never remembers anything from when he's dead.

"It's alright; it's over now." He holds him very tightly for just a moment before releasing him, glad of the closeness, the reassurance that he's really there and, you know, not all broken and bloodied like last time. It's nice.

It is. He's reluctant to let Edrahil go, but not reluctant enough not to and he pulls back a bit as well, leaving his hand on Edrahil's shoulder. "And I am glad that it is."
